The 40th anniversary of President Nixon's resignation has generated a flurry of articles and books. As my own small tribute to the anniversary, I'm sharing my impressions of President Nixon's favorite breakfast -- cottage cheese with ketchup.
If you've never heard of it, then it probably sounds unappetizing, as it did for me. But keep in mind that Nixon ate this for breakfast while he was President. He could have had anything he wanted -- eggs, bacon and pancakes prepared by a chef every day -- but he preferred cottage cheese with ketchup. It must have something going for it.
I tried it. Not bad. Give it a try, and try to think kindly of the former president.
P.S. Some people like it with hot sauce.
