I'm planning on ordering an xbone in the next couple of weeks. The NSA is going to have a live feed of me in my underwear with a bag of hot fries and a 2L of Mt. Dew playing Destiny.

Agreed. Also, hooking your cable box through it and using voice for channels works pretty damn good. If you like watching football... Yeah it is amazing to snap the NFL app on the side.

The hype thing has been bothering me. That and the fact that there is a 10 year publishing deal and planned expansions all before it's been released. I suppose that's just a symptom of the industry rather than the game itself, but I hope it it doesn't fall flat.

Could be. I was using a scout rifle and pumping round after round into some guys, barely breaking their shield only to have them turn around and kill me with a quick burst from their auto-rifle. I switched to a auto-rifle/shotgun combo myself and did a little better.

I like it a lot. Played it a ton and just hit the soft cap. Enjoying the pve much more than pvp, but it's early. The hard modes for pve can be challenging.

I like it. If you played Halo 4, the 'single player' is a lot like the Spartan Ops mode: mainly blasting stuff in set-piece battles with a little story thrown in during the quiet parts. There's not too much differentiation in the missions though, usually it's just escorting Dinklagebot to an area then fighting off waves of enemies. Competitive multiplayer, again, plays like the Halo series which shouldn't be too surprising. If you like a solid shooter with slightly floaty combat, minor MMORPG aspects and a vague story, you'll probably like Destiny.

Yeah, I read a few guides on it and the recommendations are to a) outlevel, or b) kill the waves of adds before the boss until they, except for some thralls, stop spawning.

Yup, when you're fighting a boss, you must kill the adds that spawn asap. It not they'll overwhelm you.

I love the giant battles and constant swarming of enemies. Makes for a real challenge, especially when you're doing a strike mission alone.

They need to add some sort of (lenient) penalty to people slamming on Vanguard operations... 9/10 you start a Vanguard, people run thorough the first couple swarms and try to farm them for drops, then slam instead of completing the mission.

Something like slamming 4 of them in 30 minutes should be sufficient, and flexible enough to not penalize people who have a phone call or something they have to take.

Slamming/Quitting is a big problem for online games in general. My friend recently stopped playing LoL due to people quitting in the middle of ranked games. It seems like they never have policies in place from the get-go, and are forced to patch it in later.

No. The closest thing to a traditional RPG mechanic are the stats, but they only affect the cooldowns of certain skills, or in the case of secondary skills, things like jump height and health. Don't get this expecting Mass Effect.

Not really. You can choose class and the skills you want but that's about as RPG as it gets. The loot system is garbage, the story may as well not exist. The PvP stuff is superb though. I'm having a blast with that part of it.

Not really. It basically replaces the mission select screen to make it more RPGy. It is mostly a shooter at heart with a few RPG trappings.

The DLC has been revealed to be nothing but a reskin of some enemies and relocating them as well.

At some point they're going to releases other planets, raids, pvp settings, weapons and armor, and missions. Suppose I was referring to that. When activision is involved, you better warm up to dlc. Profits and stockholders and such.

Took us a few hours but we didn't down atheon. The game kept glitching and it wasn't teleporting the right people so it made it tough. We spent about 3 hours on the raid and most of it was on atheon.

I think Shadows of Mordor is the better game, but you can 100% it in 20-25 hours.

Destiny is very grindy, but there's the PvP aspect.

It's whatever you make of it. The PvE missions are where you run around an open area and fight waves of enemies while Peter Dinklage follows you around and tells you some vague story stuff. PvP is like Halo. You use tokens and points that you earn from doing stuff to buy more weapons and armor, and there are weapons and armor that drop at random.

Other than being told 94647453565 times in the description that it mods something and apparently gives controllers rapid fire, I have no idea what this thing does.

Coworker told me you could turn it off but I realize now that he's full of shit. I've only put about 4 hours into the game and noticed it throwing off my headshots. On the other side of things, it feels like I'm just shooting in the general direction of enemies and scoring hits.

Spiffy is correct in regards to being able to move at speed 10, however the big issue with XIM and m/kb adapters isn't movement speed, but rather the speed at which you can shift directions when moving from right to left or vice versa. It's a finite speed on consoles and it's capped whereas there's no upper limit on PC's. If you're fast on a m/kb you're going to error out the XIM because you move at a speed which goes beyond the console specifications and it acts as if you never moved in the first place.

My experience is using the XIM3 but regardless of which XIM you're using it can't and wont fix the consoles having capping look speed which is what separates consoles from PC's when it comes to FPS's. And of course the auto aim which is there to correct for the increased difficulty in using a controller

I can already tell I'm gonna end up getting it if/when it comes out on PC though. The look speed isn't nearly fast enough for that mouse emulator to make it feel like a real mouse, though for precision aiming it'd still probably do better than analog sticks.

Been playing the demo and I do like it. COD:AW has been described as "the same old thing only you jump higher" and I agree. Destiny plays just like it on the console but it has better graphics, stunning visuals, is a sandbox world, and a more compelling story. By releasing the demo they may have added me as another purchaser.

The reason to be capped before each expansion is so that you can raid the day it comes out. Doing the new raids under max level is a significant disadvantage. It's approximately a 30% damage dealt reduction/damage received increase per level under the content.

My plan was taking out his cannon and working from there. I actually got a rocket launcher so I'm gonna try my luck later.

You can take out the blue launcher on the turret, but not the main gun itself. Still better to aim for the knee joints, though, they'll count as precision shots and bring it down that much quicker. Much easier if you find some cover while you plink away in any case.

I was plinking away on my first run pretty well, even managed to knock the damn thing down to half health and blow off a single piece of leg armor. I was running with fellow scrubs though and they kept getting nuked by the main gun.

Destinydb covers items and stuff, but drop rates aren't really applicable. It's not like WoW or anything, but raid bosses do drop items. They don't drop nearly as many items as WoW bosses though.

You can get geared for the raid pretty easily from strikes and vendors. If you want to get into hard mode raiding you'll need boss drops however. Which can be a pain in the ass. That's my problem right now; getting the right gear to get into hard mode.

Destinylfg or any of the other matchmaking sites are a must if you want to raid or get in any type of group.

It's all about upping the range with a shotgun for pvp. The chaparone is good if you can aim, maybe try the invective if you cant. Party crasher+1 is another good one if you can get it with range finder and some other range boosts. Alternatively invisible corner camping as a hunter is a useful way to get a feel for shotguns
