The only thing I have left from what little I've bought is a base plate for a dreadnought. I'll take apicture of it later but it actually came out pretty decent for my first try. Made it when I was in Qatar. Painted it a sand color, spread some organic qatari sand on top, then coated with a thin layer of clear glue.

I've only done it once on a Harlequin shadowseer. I think you have to be careful. I ended up weakening the model but it looked really freaking cool.

I love their lore. They're highly skilled warriors with solid tactics and a strong sense of code and honor. What they were able to accomplish on Calth was just amazing too. They should have been annihilated but they overcame and kicked word Bearer ass.

They get a pretty bad rap for the whole 'follow the Codex at all costs' thing but they are genuinely an interesting Chapter. I thought they were all weenies until I read the story behind the Sergeant helm. That completely obliterated my previous views on them.

The Tau Battlespheres are slightly shorter, at 9,000 km, but they look quite a bit larger size wide. According to the ship pic though, the largest ship (and I mean ship, not space station likle the DS or whatever) is those alien ships from Independence Day at 24,000 km long.

I used to watch miniature war-gaming live and every time someone broke out the Tau, people groaned. The dice required for that faction is ludicrous. While I was watching, no joke, there was a massive pause to count all the rolls. Frustrating little faction.

I haven't bothered with much of their lore either. They seem like a faction that is just... there.

I was never a big fan of the Ultramarines until I read the 30k stuff. Mark of Calth was great as was the Unremembered Empire, although that might have been because Kurze is a fucking beast.

Rogue Trader used to have some fun rules. There were a few games where either a friend or myself would purchase a command unit as a spotter and spend the rest of our points on orbital vortex missiles.

Mark 6 is the best. The old 30-box of space marines were all in that armor. When they first changed to 7, I was pretty upset. Got used to it though, I like the new ones as well, but something about the beak just works for me.

Yeah. At first I didn't really think it was that serious of an issue but apparently that is not the case. I'm working my way through the most recent book and Malcador describes it as a holocaust and that even the Emperor is taxed with holding the daemonic forces at bay, so it must be pretty grave.

To Lorngar Spineripper's surprise, after he removed the duct tape, they found larva growing and squirming within the pores and sores of his carapace (http://www.snopes.com/photos/medical/breastrash.asp). Sometimes these wicked creatures would all together simultaneously move around into different crevices. What he didn't know was that the holes were in fact, deeper than he had originally thought for these larvae were feeding off the adamantium, ceramite, and even promethium canals of his carapace. The holes were 50 cm deep. He was ministrated to by a techpriest and the larva was removed from his carapace. Therefore always take a slight rash serious and have the heresy removed before it is to late. Cheers and may the Dark Gods leave you in peace.

What the fuck ... for how much you talk about 40k ...

I knew people who were seriously into it but I only ever played a few games, there was an awful lot of setup for the game. I think I enjoyed painting them more than I enjoyed playing. If I had the time and space I'd love to paint them again, it was a fun hobby if you didn't take it too seriously and just painted casually (I would paint while watching TV w/ the GF when I got back into some 6 or 7 years ago).

I've only got pics of the Carnifex/Hive Tyrant (taken years ago not this weekend), I never got to doing their bases, but I had modded them with magnets letting me swap out heads/arms to let me vary the loadout (the 'fex w/ the half a face missing meant you took the "regen" variant, and depending on how stickler for a rules someone was, if it didn't have the right loadout on the figure it wasn't supposed to have that loadout)

I enjoyed the Space Marine video game, even if it did start my least favorite chapter. (Ick, smurfs!) Eternal Crusade MMO looks promising, too, though I hear the F2P players will be stuck playing Orks. Which is hilarious if true.
