Depends on the store. Last time I was in one, there were more women than men in there playing Pathfinder games.

Incidentally, I've also been in gaming stores where the body odor was so bad that I gagged and my eyes watered. A friend of man worked at a comic shop for a while and he used to tell customers they had to go home and take a shower.

Ill keep track of it, however i wont hope for anything. The 40k MMO that was supposed to basically be like planetside 2, has changed a bunch, to basically largish arena style combat.

My hope though, is that they get an interesting story. Space Marines are pretty straight forward, with the Inquisition there is a whole lot of room for good story that wouldnt make sense for SMs.

They have these now, Primaris Space Marines. The left side is a primaris apothecary... and look how big that fucking primaris Chaplain in the middle is. The Primaris are supposed to be like comparing Space Marines to humans. The rest of the smurfs are regular Ultramarines.

Yeah. He basically runs shit now. The Primaris are actually all like 10,000 years old, they've just been in Stasis or some shit. It is just an excuse for GW to peddle more bullshit. I'm thinking eventually they won't even be creating Astartes stuff anymore, it'll all be Primaris. And then IG will look ridiculously tinier.

Maybe....He helped Papa Smurf. He was pretty pissed when he couldnt see the Big E along with Roboute.

Basically Papa smurf got beat by a lord of change and was locked up. Cypher broke him out on the condition that Rouboute get him an audience with Big E. Rouboute agreed, and cypher fought in Guilliman's crusade until they get to terra. The custodes were not going to allow anyone but Roboute see Big E, and Roboute didnt trust cypher, so he order cypher locked up. Cypher escaped soon after.

As of now, the reason for his wanting to see Big E hasnt been given (as far as i know, i dont keep fully up to date).

Pretty excited. Got my wife to be all in to try it out. Going to try AoS because I think those miniatures look cooler *yeah...I know*. Just ordered a bunch of the books with all the Orders and one of the super mini sets and some paints and glue. Once I paint my first set of lil dudes I will post a picture.

Any tips for construction and painting to include brushes to use and pallettes to use and other neat tips are widely accepted and appreciated. We are about to move so it will be a couple weeks until I can actually paint but I am going to be doing some hardcore reading!

well my list of opponents is my wife so we shall see how that goes but I did see they looked like 40k had mini campaign thingys and I would be tempted to try those too. Honestly I wanted to get into the painting and building so my toddlers had neat toys in a year or two and the table game was an added bonus. I am sure I am missing out on a lot of lore but this is my very first steps in this so ask me in a year from now where I end up and it could be 40k still =).

Those mech dwarves though in AoS and the neat little globes they fly on are pretty cool too!

You can use the Start Collecting sets for games but once you read up a bit or get more experience you'll want to adjust your armies beyond them. Collecting/assembling 40k is SUPER expensive and time consuming, but if you're willing to spend $50+ on a 30 year old text based game it's probably right up your alley.

Anyway, its expensive. I agree that the best thing to do is go to your local store and check that out. Let folks know that you are thinking about starting the hobby. Lots of people (and sometimes the store) will let you use some models to play a game or two to learn. They can also be helpful in figuring out what army you want to play.

Besides the minis you will need the base rule book. Then, once you decide on your army, any army specific books. Some armies have different factions with specific faction rules. Then all the paint and stuff to build/paint y our models. It also helps to know if your local scene is really wysiwyg (what you see is what you get, meaning, what weapons you use HAVE to be on the model), or if they allow proxies. This is for casual play, tournaments are all wysiwyg.

Anyway, welcome to the hobby, its a bunch of fun!

Yes and no. The Necrons only have like 5 different types of ships, categorized as battleships, cruisers, and escorts. Their battleship is a tomb ship and it is fucking ridiculously more powerful than an Imperial battleship. Their cruisers are probably more the equal to Imperial battleships. They are all known for being hard as fuck to destroy. 5 of their "light cruisers" once managed to attack and land on Mars, although they were all destroyed in the end. No traces of the ships were ever found, so take that for what you will.

They have like 3 types of fighters too.
