ALLEGHENY TOWNSHIP, PA — Police arrested and charged a man with a crime because he hung an American flag upside down on his own property.

Joshuaa Brubaker, of Duncansville, says he is passionate about his Native American heritage and the American Indian Movement (AIM). He grew upset when the site of one of the most infamous massacres in U.S. history has been put up for commercial sale.

Allow me to explain the difference between the two situations. According to the official Flag Code (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Flag_Code), you should never fly the flag upside down except to signal distress. The reason is that invading foreigners will be too dumb to realize the flag is upside down and they won't know you're sending a secret signal. The Republican was in legitimate distress and had a right to turn the flag over, but the Native American was just trying to make trouble.

This shit's crazy.

Czywczynski's announcement isn't the first time he's threatened to sell the property to a non-tribal buyer. Since February, the 76-year-old has been trying to entice the Oglala to purchase the land, often using the media as a proxy to conduct negotiations.

Czywczynski has repeatedly insisted that he wants a total of $4.9 million for the parcel at Wounded Knee and a 40-acre parcel at Porcupine Butte. The tribe has repeatedly spurned that offer, hailing it as an exorbitant price for the two parcels valued at a total of $14,000 by the county assessor.

Is this parcel on Reservation land? This is a good case for some eminent domain.

He only needs to point at two US Supreme Court cases to get all that thrown out in an instant.

I've always felt that desecration of the flag is and should be protected as a Freedom of Speech. This poem serves it up well, I think...

It is the Soldier, not the minister, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
