What a missed opportunity. This is exactly what drones are for.
Washington (CNN) -- A new video shows what looks like the largest and most dangerous gathering of al Qaeda in years. And the CIA and the Pentagon either didn't know about it or couldn't get a drone there in time to strike.

I hope it was something like that. It would have to be good for us to pass up a chance to hit such a big portion of their leadership apparatus.
I saw that CNN was breaking this news. My first thought was... ok, we can't be everywhere at once. We got Osama. But now I wonder if this "news" is meant to throw them off. Double conspiracy!

We got bin Laden with months and months of work, the problem with something like this is that it can be setup in 48 hours, so by the time you get a good read on it, it has already happened or as Gelston pointed out, perhaps we have people close enough to bring more benefit to letting it happen. judgement call. I chide the intel guys at work all the time when they tell me about stuff that has already happened, but at least in our case it is important since it goes toward trends of what drug smugglers do, I doubt terrorists are quite as predictable as pseudo bad guys in the deep Caribbean.

Maybe we did.
A weekend operation against members of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) is part of a "massive and unprecedented" campaign against the militant group, an unidentified Yemeni government official told CNN.

He means we're finally gonna crack down on Al Queda? It's time to start getting serious!

Mr. President, I appreciate all the hard work you're doing in single-handedly capturing Osama bin Laden and destroying al Qaeda (and bringing us out of the worst recession since the 20s), but I think you're working yourself too hard. Take a few vacation days! You've earned it.
