Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz decidedly won the presidential straw poll at the 2013 Values Voter Summit, solidifying his status among religious conservatives.
Cruz, a first-term senator and Tea Party favorite, has emerged as one of the Republican Party and conservative movement’s most dynamic leaders – highlighted by his effort to defund ObamaCare.
Cruz, who appears to have presidential aspirations, took 42 percent of the vote, with Dr. Ben Carson and former Pennsylvania Sen. and GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum each getting 13 percent.
Though the 2016 race is years off, the annual summit in Washington is considered an early indication of how conservative voters are leaning.

It's because everybody likes what he did with the shutdown.

The best line by far from the article:
Carson, a Maryland physician popular with conservatives, rejected the notion of a "war on women," raised by Democrats, saying, "The war is on their babies."

The U.S. doesn't negotiate with babies.

I knew those babies were out to disrupt the American way. What with their crying at 2 AM and draining our resources while giving nothing back.
The truth is out now and I support this crusade on the young.

It's hard to negotiate with someone who can go till they shit themselves and still not lose focus.

Well when you think about it, it makes sense. Babies are basically a liberal's larval form. They take everything and give nothing, all the while demanding a return to the mommy state.

Okay, Taernath you're entering the stage of silly partisan rhetoric. There are plenty of liberals who have served in the armed forces and governemnt agencies. I wouldn't call that giving nothing.

It's hard to tell if you didn't recognize Taernath's sarcasm or if you're just playing along. It sounds like you didn't catch his sarcasm but that's kind of hard to believe.

Well that's what I get for only reading the first and last posts of a thread. But there are probably people on this board who would actually post something like that in earnest so I stand by my words.

I'm fairly certain I have a better chance of being President than Ted Cruz, and I'm not allowed to be President per the Constitution.

He has a strong Texas base of industry millionaers and abject religious personalities. He's also been towing the Christian coalition along for quite some time and much more recently making waves wooing the Texas defense community, which tends to be Perrys base. I'm not sure how this flys with the Perry Camp, they've been working so hard to recruit international business to this state, I will honestly be suprised if Perry throws money away in another presidential campaign.
