<Think of how you would feel if you came here and posted that someone you thought you loved turned out not to be as wonderful as you imagined, and that as a result, other bad things happened... you lost property, a job, your dreams. And someone posted "Well, what did you expect?" Because that's what it sounds like. >

That's why you don't solicit opinions on personal matters on a public message board. With that said, she hasn't made this debate personal, so I don't think we should make it personal for her. She has been very respectful, and most of the bad mouthing has come from us.

I personally think that Caramia is right in this case. People sometimes don't think before they post here. Being honest is fine, being bitchy and saying things that could potentially hurt someone is another.

I tend to think that being nice gets further, or even wording things a bit differently sometimes works better than being outright bitchy.

In my limited dealings with Whatley, I've found him to be the most reasonable person at Simu.

I only fault him for keeping so many people on staff that do more to drive away customers rather than bring in new customers and keep current ones.

I have to disagree Caramia.

I like Ashley, and I'll admit i was more than slightly wary when i heard she had become a GM because of her relationship with Whatley, but was won over by what seemed a determination to be pleasant, profesional and productive.

I certainly have no axe to grind with her and wish her only the best.

Ok, that being said, all I took from Maimara's post was that being in a relationship with a boss is just taking something that is difficult most times and adding a tremendous amount of dangers to it.

We all know it. I hoped things would work out, but how can we be surprised that he would be a jerk when the relationship ends. It doesnt mean we agree with it or think it was in any way correct, but just that it is not all that shocking.

Dissapointing? Yes.
Shocking? No.

You know, this has gotten kind of....ridiculus? I mean come on we all sometimes say things in the wrong way maybe. Does that mean we should single one person out and hang them?

Hell Maimara even...pretty much apologized if how she said something was taken in the wrong way. Hell this is text, there is no way to add or tell what a tone really is. The very fact she apologized, is making me feel that maybe i don't have to fear her so much !!!!!

Give it a rest...sheesh

Well lessee - what are the various topics and subtopics here?

1) Sorry you lost your job Ash - if you were doing a good job (and everyone here agrees you were) then it's gotta suck. Good luck looking for another one - it's a tough market out there.

2) Sorry you and David didn't work out. Breaking up (and things that lead up to the breakup) are always rough on both sides, no matter whose "fault" it was.

3) To the general membership of the PC: I seem to recall WAY back when you discovered that Ash became engaged to David, and then got a job at Simu - that everyone was VERY quick to point fingers and accuse her of sleeping her way to the top. Hell - I might've been one of those people too, I don't remember who posted which words. I just remember there were WEEKS worth of VERY nasty comments being flung from all directions.

I just find it amusing that everyone is conveniently forgetting that. I'll say this though: IF she slept her way to the job, then oh well - sucks to be her for losing it, and it STILL is sorrowful that she's unemployed, no matter how she got the job.

If she didn't sleep her way to the job, then uh - same thing. Being unemployed is no picnic.

4) Regarding "Wrongful Termination" - this applies to very specific legal criteria. Discrimination, Whistle-blowing, Defamation, and other matters of labor law. An "at will" employee can be terminated from their job for NO REASON if the boss is just in the mood to fire someone that day, and there's nothing the ex-employee can do about it other than collect an unemployment check. As long as David didn't violate the -specific- criteria of the "wrongful termination doctrine" AND as long as the state has actually adopted that doctrine, then he did nothing that she can sue him over.

On the other hand, Harrassment is part of the "Wrongful Termination" doctrine - so if she really wanted to persue it, she could try that angle - that he tried to coerce her to continue a sexual relationship with him that she didn't want to have, and fired her as a result. But since she had willingly gone into that relationship and became engaged to him - willingly - that's gonna be ridiculously difficult to prove.

Whether David's a moron or Ashley slept her way to her position, or the little green men caused all this - it doesn't really matter. I feel bad that someone is out of work. I feel bad that a relationship didn't work out. And it sounds like the game lost out on a great GM, so I feel bad about that too.

That is all.

CrystalTears

Yeah, that was WAY back. People can change, you know. Even after it happened and the finger pointing was over and done with (and a lot of that finger pointing and accusation was from Edge, thankyouverymuch), people started to see that she was very good at her job. People came here and starting feeling bad for how they treated her back then and felt that she had earned her right as a GM. I still don't think that excuses him firing her from a job she was very good at simply because they no longer get along.

She's better off now anyway. She's free from the controlling jerk and she can get on with her life away from GS.

You didn't need the job, Ashley...nobody deserves to be reduced to working for Simu...much less having to deal with David every day. Sagan's always good for a laugh.

::Checks his NDA::

Nope, can't say much about that... not atoll...

However, I can say..

The sequence of events do not surprise me. That they actually happened is the biggest surprise. Honestly, Ash, I thought for sure you were set in this relationship.

Whatever anyone wants to think of David, that of course is their opinion and they're entitled to it, but the amusing thing about it was all the talk about suing Simu for wrongful termination.

Ash, not sure if you ever were on the payroll from the office, but if you were, you do have a rather healthy chance of prevailing either in a settlement to make it go away or an actual award. It's very winable.

As a contractor tho, that's a horse of a different colour. This was not a "job". This was a consultant position. One that can and be expected to be terminated. For the measley few dollars that they said we "earned", there is no leg to stand on in court.

So there ya have it kiddies.

Sorry about everything that you went through Ash. Just remember, I'll save you the next time. <grin>

Oh, Bob? You're freakin' hysterical.

Dear Alan;

When you first left Simutronics, you posted here to keep checking on your website because you were going to post something big. It has been MONTHS since this promise and still nothing.

Here is a quote from your post: (Exibit A)

Pay attention to my website in the coming weeks (about 2) for some interesting updates and some pretty cool news.

b) Prompted a huge tell all post on your website (which I somehow missed) and Simutronics sued you to have it removed.

I just think it's funny that people are talking about her return, because when I asked her about it, she said she hasn't even signed anything or logged into her account. Nothing is official. She's amazed anyone knows.

I guess since it's been doubly said that must make it DOUBLE TRUE. It's good that we have an extra verification in case the first person was just making it up!
