As of Monday afternoon, no arrests have been made and George Zimmerman is "no longer in investigative detention," according to police. Police are investigating the incident as a domestic battery and have retrieved the home surveillance videos from David Dean, Shellie's father. If they find evidence that a crime occurred, charges could be filed later.

Former Local 6 legal analyst Mark O'Mara, who represented George Zimmerman in his murder trial, said that the argument on Monday stemmed over Shellie moving. George Zimmerman wanted to move on Monday and emotions "bubbled" over when he walked in on Shellie Zimmerman still moving, O'Mara said.

O'Mara also said that George Zimmerman didn't threaten Shellie Zimmerman or her father with a gun, even though Shellie Zimmerman told 911 dispatchers he did.

He says there may be have been some "pushing and touching" but that George Zimmerman never punched his father-in-law, despite what Shellie Zimmerman said in her 911 call.

"I don’t know what he’s capable of," Shellie Zimmerman told dispatchers, while sobbing. "I’m really scared."

In the 911 call, Shellie Zimmerman tells her dad to "get behind the car or something-I don't know if he's going to start shooting at us or something." She also said her father said he "feels like he's going to have a heart attack."

The incident comes days after Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce and discussed her relationship with George Zimmerman on a TV interview.

Interesting that is is the first thread on this issue on the PC and it's in support of Zimmerman. Protests have been going on for weeks now and there have been countless filings against the police department and the state of florida by Civil Rights groups. Federal investigators have become involved. I think it has moved past he said she said, obviously. Since Trayvon cannot speak for himself now. Luckily we dont have to guess. There are recordings of what happened and witnesses who are talking to the press.

So far I've heard 3 recordings. One submitted to npr of the phonecall with his girlfriend who he was on the phone with when he says to her, "hey, I think there is a man following me....what is he doing." Followed by a thump sound and a disconnect. Another from a third party neighbor who called 911 when she heard yelling outside. Supposedley "Hey Man! What are you doing!" and then someone said the N word. All you can hear is garbled screaming in the background and then gunshots.

The most chilling recording of all is the one from the 911 dispatcher who talked to Zimmerman. She asked him pointed questions which he was unable to answer because he was so hyped up. He has been described as serial 911 caller who calls on blacks seen in his area. (A description from the civil rights groups who have been investigating this for the past month.)

The neighbor called into a radio show I was listening to and said she heard Zimmerman say "Nigger" and that her statement was skewed by the police.

Facts: He was unarmed. He was on his way home after buying an arizona ice tea and skittles. He was on the phone with his girl friend minutes before he was murdered. He was much smaller than Zimmerman who was armed with a gun.

Actually the police can still press charges if someone comes forth with evidence to support that he irresponsibly brandished his handgun or any future reports of the injuries sustained for example from a hospital reports of the victims injuries. They do not need consent of the victims. This is because many victims of domestic violence are persuaded not to report their injuries for fear of their safety or financial reasons. Taking the 9/11 call into account and since the altercation happened when the wife tried to pick up her personal items both of those reasonings should normally exist. However, as WB mentions, his dad has political pull within the judicial framework. It's likely Zimmerman will get away with everything. Hopefully the wife was at least able to retrieve her belongings.

Did he? The articles I'm reading are strangely silent about this. The closest I came to hearing anything solid was the dad refused medical attention and he isn't (yet, at least) pressing charges. George Zimmerman also voluntarily gave police video surveillance footage from the home, so if there's anything there I imagine we'll be hearing about it soon - unless Zimmerman's dad uses his Sith Lord powers to 'make it all disappear'.

I haven't kept up too much with this story outside of this thread, but was the punching in the face part of the story that got changed too? Otherwise it would be reasonable to assume that the cops would have charged him with assault, regardless of whether her dad wanted to press charges or not.

Scheibe told deputies she asked Zimmerman to leave the house they were sharing during an argument. Scheibe said in an arrest report that he began packing his belongings, including some of the weapons, but became upset and took the shotgun out of the case.

According to the search warrant, Scheibe said she was going to call police. That's when Zimmerman pointed the shotgun at her and asked if "she really wanted to do that," the warrant says. Scheibe said Zimmerman pushed her out of the house while she was dialing 911 and locked the door, barricading it with furniture and other items.
