Late Friday afternoon (http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/06/report-gop-takes-doma-case-to-the-supreme-court-127785.html), House Republicans boldly filed an appeal from a decision by judicial activists in an appeals court case that overturned a portion of the Defense of Marriage Act. Courts are supposed to interpret the law, not rewrite it.
House Republicans are represented by high price lawyer Paul Clement, who was Solicitor General for George W. Bush. Clement is well known as for arguing cases for conservatives in the Supreme Court. He argued both the Obamacare case and the Arizona immigration case. When Clement agreed to take this case, it caused a big hoo-hah that forced him to leave his law firm.
