View Full Version : The $990 T-Shirt
ClydeR

Ann Romney went to the CBS Morning Show wearing a t-shirt that cost $990.
That's $990.00, in case you think I missed the decimal. And, yes, it was a t-shirt.

Here's (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/post/after-ann-romney-how-can-you-wear-a-1000-tee/2012/05/03/gIQAjWRtzT_blog.html) the same t-shirt on a runway model. I think Mrs. Romney looks better in it than the model did.

Gee, that seems awfully low compared to the $2,000 dress the First Lady was seen wearing in Hawaii.

So wahr mir Gott helfe, what a sin.
The difference is, the taxpayers likely paid for Mrs. Obama's dress, where the $990 T-Shirt was likely paid for by the Romney's hard earned money.
Both parties are elitists - incapable of governing! They seem quite capable at reading scrolling text. When will a Gemstone IV player become President?
I wonder what price the wives of Mike Gravel and Ron Paul are paying for their blouses. According to recent statistics, the Paul camp has raised a lot of money. Is it going to waste? I think there's something very positive something here.
The media decides what candidates you fawn over and what candidates you ignore. But don't worry, it's often the same in Europe and the rest of the "free" world.

What point was ClydeR trying to make to you?
To me, he was trying to say Romney is rich, look at his wife wearing a $900 tee-shirt. He slipped back into his persona to say she looked good in it though.
He certainly was not trying to get people to compare outfits Michelle has worn in the past.. that ruins everything.
ClydeR has been extremely clumsy and lazy in like the last year or so. It's rare that he actually works his persona effectively anymore.

He has been linking literally anything barely politics related, at times.
Shit that's not even worth a discussion.
I forgot, he's been on holiday for 3 weeks so hasn't had a lot of time to proof what he throws up.

Did you even read your article? It says Obama's dress was two years old. She obviously bought it at the secondhand store at a huge discount. :)

I'd rather just donate a grand to the wildlife fund instead of walking around wearing that shirt. For crying out loud.
At least then I get a deduction, rather than something to wipe my ass with.

I'm not sure how this relates at all to Showal's post.
However, I'm quite sure if I paid $990 for a t-shirt, I'd be able to remember that.

Yeah, that had very little to do with my post, if anything at all. Anyways, it appears I am wrong in this case.

A representative of the fashion house told ABC News that the shirt is off-the-rack and it had not been a gift to Ann Romney from Krakoff.
“We had nothing to do with it,” the Krakoff rep said. “She must have bought it from Saks or Bergdorf’s. We definitely didn’t send it to her.”
The rep added: “It's 100 percent a Reed Krakoff shirt, but we 100 percent didn't send it to her. We don't get involved politically.”
Regardless, who cares if a guy worth as much as Romney has a wife that has an expensive shirt? I guess you could use it to paint his family as being "out of touch" with the American public, but a lot of people have somewhat expensive and nice clothes that they too would wear on special occasions, like being on television. Our "Sunday best" I think it's more commonly called. I happen to think this shirt is ugly, but perhaps she likes it or perhaps she was told by some fashion consultant to wear it. I don't think it really matters.

This was a prime opportunity to mention the Romney's car elevator. It lifts up their cars so they have more room to park more of their cars. But only at 1 of their 9 houses.

I find this kind of a sexist remark, why is it assumed to be taxpayer money when Michelle Obama is fully capable of making her own money? According to their 2006 tax return her income (not including his income, just hers) was over 300k. I think she can afford to buy her own 2k dress if she wants to. Using her own "hard earned" money.

True. I find it funny that people are trying to portray the Romneys as being "out of touch" with ordinary citizens when the Obamas are part of the 1% themselves.
