Flailing Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich now has one more group whose support he can't count on: penguins.
While on a tour of the St Louis Zoo on Friday, the former speaker of the house was nipped on the hand by a small penguin.
An animal enthusiast, Gingrich has travelled to about 95 zoos across the world throughout his life including a number of stops while on the campaign trail.

Though visits to zoos seem more appropriate for a small boy than a presidential candidate, Gingrich as explained that his appreciation for zoos is inextricably linked to his passion for politics.
When he was only 11 years old, Gingrich spoke passionately to the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania city council to lobby for the a town zoo.
Even though he didn't land the city a new zoo, it did ignite an interest in politics that continues to this day.
