WASHINGTON — With emotions still raw from the fight over President Obama’s contraception mandate, Senate Democrats are beginning a push to renew the Violence Against Women Act, the once broadly bipartisan 1994 legislation that now faces fierce opposition from conservatives.

If Congress doesn't act, the Violence Against Women Act will automatically sunset. The reauthorization barely made it out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, with every Republican voting against it and every Democrat voting for it.
Let it expire. We should not have special rights for one subset of our citizens, in this case women.
