Americans have long voted on Tuesdays, a tradition held over from the mid-1800s, when it was more convenient for farmers. But voting on Tuesday is more difficult in the 21st century, when people have longer commutes, jobs with odd hours, and generally faster-paced, more crammed lives.

Two top Democrats suggest it would be more convenient in these times to vote on the weekend instead. They want Saturday to be the new Election Day, and ideally for them, that would start in 2014.

Voting is a nearly sacred process in our society. The day for that important event was chosen by our Antebellum leaders, and Democrats have no right to interfere with that choice.

I think we should either vote on the weekends or have election day be a national holiday.

I think the government should spend millions researching what one day out of the year is most inconvenient for minorities to vote on and that should be election day for all public offices.

...Democrats have no right to interfere with that choice.

That hasn't stopped them in the past.

...oh. Is Wrathbringer a parody, too? I feel slightly sillier than normal now.

I think Saturday is a great idea. It would not interfere with weekday businesses bottom line. Imagine how much productivity is lost across the country on voting day?

Making it a national holiday on a Tuesday is a horrible idea. Or any other weekday for that matter. Again, loss of productivity not only for that day but the next day as well because people are going to call out Monday for a nice 4 day weekend and when they get back on Wednesday they will be so hungover they won't be able to accomplish anything and the next weekend is two days away so fuck it lets party through!

Move it to Saturday. Brilliant idea actually.

Saturday should be fine for Republicans too, cause it's the Sabbath, and everyone knows the Jews vote D.

We could make it February 29. We have February 29 every election year and only in election years. We could make it a combination voting day and national holiday.

Democrats should want to keep it on a Tuesday.. think of all the Republicans that are too busy with jobs to stop what they are doing to go and vote.

Advantage: Democrats

I think it should be Monday at 3:30AM-4:30AM. That way only people who really care go and vote. And Sunday night strippers.

Or, we could move the extra day to November. Screw all those people born on leap day! They can celebrate on November 2 1/2nd.
