Watch these four minutes from Obama's first campaign speech of 2012, delivered this morning, and you'll see why Mitt Romney is the worst person for Republicans to choose.

Although Obama never mentions Romney, it's no less devastating. If you're expecting an easy Republican victory, Obama's speech will make you cry. Absolutely devastating.
The title of this thread is false.
Obama did not enter the campaign against himself.

Why is Obama making speeches to people he already bought votes from? Shouldn't he be off buying votes from a different voting bloc?

sigh. You're right about Romney. Never cared too much for him anyway, personally. I'm of the opinion that RPMD provides the best hope for a timely fiscal recovery and departure from politics as usual, but I realize his chances are slim to none of receiving the nomination. At this point, aside from Paul and much as I dislike the proposition, Gingrich seems to provide the starkest contrast to Obama's policies and may provide the best hope for the conservative base. Besides, I'd love to see Gingrich debate Obama.

If the choice is between Santorum or Romney vs Obama, I might just sit this one out. So disappointed.

Who did you want?
If it's Ron Paul.. I can't imagine how you could be surprised by this outcome.

I have to admit that I enjoy listening to Ron Paul. Of those running on the republican side, he seems to be the most frank and honest. His ideas are not shrink-wrapped in political mumbo jumbo quite as much as the other guys.
If he runs as an independent after not getting the nomination, it will of course skewer whomever the republican nominee is. I don't see him doing that, unless he thinks the republican choice has no chance anyway. In that case he might just see it all as a chance to expand his soap box preaching to a larger audience, ala Ralph Nader.

He won't run as an independent if Romney is the nominee. They're friends.
