Its been happening for a while verbally but with the recent assassinations and attempts its pretty clear the current road being traveled down is going to end in a major conflict.

What is fascinating about this tragedy is examining how its being played out in real time. Are the leaders of these two countries just looking for a fight? Is it all fun and games until civilians get killed?

Are civilians the barter and exchange of how wars are won or lost?

The nuclear option used on the Japanese certainly changed their paradigm. Would that option change anyone else's paradigm in the same way?

Before we used nuclear weapons on Japan, no civilians were killed in wars?

The thing is back then only the US had nukes.

Civilians have been purposely targeted in warfare for probably since war began. Civilized countries usually try not to hit civilians nowadays but other than that, nothing is really different now, just better weapons.

But, as evidence by the Iran-Iraq War, I don't think Iran cares about it's civilians dying.
