In the Republican race for the presidential nomination, Newt Gingrich's support continues to slowly grow, and he is now tied with Mitt Romney for second place, while Herman Cain just edges both of them out for the top spot. Both Cain and Romney have lost support since late October.

You are deluding yourself if you think Romney is the strongest Republican candidate to run against Obama. And this poll was taken after the sexual harassment allegations against Cain.

I think Huntsman is the strongest candidate for the Republicans. If it came down to Huntsman vs. Obama, I'd have a problem deciding. All the rest, Romney, Gingrich, Cain, and Bachmann (???) are just waiting to lose. That's why real Republican candidates that have a chance won't run. They are waiting for open season once there is no incumbent.

Huntsman is okay. I think he could garner more bipartisan support for legislation than either Gingrich or Romney. I'm worried about several issues with him however. I would like to know just what role he plays in his own corporation and I want some 2011 social statements from him on Gay rights and defense spending.

Ron Paul! Keep doing polls that consist of calling land-lines and your results will always be skewed!

In all seriousness, I think Paul and Huntsman are the most sound candidates, but I likely seeing it being a Romney + 1 race post February. I'd like to think it's Paul, but I might be a bit biased. Paul has the ability to mobilize the young and military vote, but Romney has the financial backing.

Aside from that, the Republicans have a huge uphill battle. Obama has already raised over 100m and has about 300m in soft spending at his (well not according to Citizens United v FEC) disposal.

As far as I'm concerned, the problem is that whoever the candidate is, if he or she should actually beat Obama, that person will be forced to cater to the far right.

Not to point out the obvious, but if the right is in control, the left obstructs. If the left is in control, the right obstructs. To me, that's actually good in most cases. Or maybe it was 11 years ago.

I would definitely want to hear more from Huntsman as well. But will I get Huntsman or what the right wants to hear? Perry scares the crap out of me for that exact reason. Is that the kind of guy Republicans really want to see in the White House?

That's far worse than Perry's brain fart.

I don't know why we arent even considering Tim Tebow yet. If he can go to 3-1 for denver without passing the football why cant he be a front runner for the GOP?

Cain is pretty scary...

That looked like a student who had crammed for a test and was trying to remember the right answer. It showed that Cain gave little thought to foreign policy issues before beginning his candidacy.

The republican party needs another Reagan.

None of these dimwits come close.

Any one of them is better than what we currently have....
