Let's make sure that in 2012, we elect more GOP politicians, so they can have a super majority in the both the House and Senate.. then we will get it done like we did when we elected the 1994 Congress.

Total control of congress AND the executive branch, and what did America get? Deficit-swelling tax cuts for the affluent, two unfunded wars and absolutely no measures for austerity.
This was about Obama right? That looks right.

I find it particularly ironic that the GOP has been encouraging the Federal Reserve to do nothing to help the economy, purely for political reasons. The Fed rightfully ignored them.

This same congress under Bush also turned the economy around at the beginning of 2001 and made corrections after 9-11 to head off a recession.
What's the Democrat 2006 Congress done for you lately.. besides causing a recession, inflating the deficit at a record pace, passed one of the worst pieces of legislation ever (Obamacare) and maintained a 9+% unemployment rate for 3 years?

Yes, the Democrats were totally in charge of the subprime housing market. Guess which party is in favor of more regulations and which one isn't? If any party takes the blame for that, it's the GOP.
inflating the deficit at a record pace
Largely a result of Bush's poorly considered series of wars and taxcuts for the wealthy. The stimulus added fractionally to it, but guess who undercut the stimulus to keep it from being as effective as it would have been otherwise? Right -- the GOP. Guess who's been standing in the way of any sort of effective response? Right -- The Party of No, the GOP.
passed one of the worst pieces of legislation ever (Obamacare)
The Dems should have fought harder for that bill. It ended up being wishy-washy, when it could have been amazing. Guess why its half-ass. Right -- the GOP, which apparently likes neither health care for poor people nor letting the market determine health insurance prices. Do you see the irony there, from the party about conservative values and the free market?
and maintained a 9+% unemployment rate for 3 years?
See above. And guess who tried to pass legislation to help with that, and who stood in the way for ideological and political reasons? Oh, no, the GOP can't let the Dems fix the economy because then they'd look good!
Add into the above the current series of anti-women's rights, anti-union, anti-tax-code corrections, and anti-immigrant policies, along with the illegal gerrymandering going on in Ohio, and you've got a massive pile of shit where a respectable party used to be.
Let's also not forget the floor-hugging humor of the GOP calling Obama's plan "class warfare," when all the GOP ever does is try to screw over the low and middle class in favor of the upper.
So, to sum everything all up? Fuck the GOP.

Guess which party insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac make loan to "the disenfranchised" despite minimal if any viability in the loans being serviced ... and the pressure to do so was politically vote-buying motivated?
Then FNMA and FHLMC started having "profitability problems" and prompted the catastrophic tumble into the subprime mortgage crisis.

AShliana where have you been, I've missed you!
Point of Facts.
1. After Bush cut taxes our nation experienced the longest period of months with consecutive job growth in history.
2. The "Bush Tax Cuts" cut taxes for everyone. They pulled many poorer people off the income tax rolls entirely. The portion that was for the "wealthy" as defined by Obama, was 70 billion a year. The other 330 billion a year was for the middle class and poor. Also, federal tax receipts INCREASED after he cut taxes. So you can't really peg them as causing the deficits.
3. Bush tried to reform SS, it was blocked by Democrats (he also tried to reform immigration, and was blocked by Republicans, and he called out for mortgage reforms and better standards as early as I think 2004 in his SOTU speech.) Honestly, for domestic policy, Bush wasn't too bad.
4. You forgot Medicare Part D. That also added to the deficit. 2 wars, and Medicare Part D.
Meanwhile can I show you a graph of the economy since Democrats took control of Congress? How often people forget that they took control in 2006, not 2008.

Ok, PB, let's break your "points" down:
Yes, the Democrats were totally in charge of the subprime housing market. Guess which party is in favor of more regulations and which one isn't? If any party takes the blame for that, it's the GOP.
Your opinion holds an assumption that more regulation, more government control, would have prevented the housing bubble. When in fact that is not proven, and in fact the antithesis has strong evidence to support it. Republicans are on the record going back to 2003 or 2004 for mortgage reform. You can find the speeches on YouTube. GWB and Ron Paul especially. You can also find the speeches where Democrats like Barney Frank fought them on it.
You're relying too much on Moveon.org talking points here.
The stimulus was more or less the first piece of legislation Obama passes in early 2009. The GOP did not take control of the house until early 2010, and the house cannot pass any legislation by itself you know, regardless. The stimulus was supposed to be a short term program, as per the definition of the word. And you're claiming that the GOP, that came in to one part of the legislative branch 2 years later was able to make it ineffective? That is hilarious. So now it is the fault of republicans that the stimulus was so ineffective and so wasteful?
And sometimes "No" is the right answer.
Again you're confusing the GOP with the Democrats. Obamacare was passed with Democrat super majorities. Sure, the GOP didn't like it, but they didn't matter. Your problem appears to be with blue dog Democrats.
See above. And guess who tried to pass legislation to help with that, and who stood in the way for ideological and political reasons? Oh, no, the GOP can't let the Dems fix the economy because then they'd look good!
Your confidence in the Democrat prescription for success is misplaced. The "solution" to our problems from the left, so far, has been Obama, Pelosi, and Reid sitting around with baseball bats beating businesses over the head with them saying "The regulations will continue until jobs are increased." Every 10 minutes they stop to catch their breath and say "But if you promise to hire someone, I'll give you a tax credit for one twentieth their first year salary, but just for the first year."
Add into the above the current series of anti-women's rights, anti-union, anti-tax-code corrections, and anti-immigrant policies, along with the illegal gerrymandering going on in Ohio, and you've got a massive pile of shit where a respectable party used to be.
Both parties do gerrymandering, no sense crying about it.
Unions are parasites on the economy, busting them is good.
Women's rights? ummkay what?
And you're missing the word "illegal" in your claim of anti-immigrant policies.
And again, one part of the legislative branch does not give you power to pass new laws on the federal level.
Let's also not forget the floor-hugging humor of the GOP calling Obama's plan "class warfare," when all the GOP ever does is try to screw over the low and middle class in favor of the upper.
What you just posted is class warfare. And you've been drinking the koolaid too much again. You realize the "wealthy" in america are taxed at a higher rate than the "wealthy" in europe? And the poor in europe are taxed at a higher rate than the poor in the US? And we call them socialists.

Wait a damn minute... are you forgetting about:
1) The MILLIONS and MILLIONS of jobs that were created and/or saved during the past 3 years? They didn't fucking make/save themselves!
2) I didn't hear you complain about last year's "Summer of Recovery", brought to you by the G.O.P.
3) Record low interest rates... how about a "thank you GOP" for a change?
4) Stabilized the unemployment. If the GOP was really the "Party of No" we would probably have unemployment at around 20%.
5) Record number of government regulations passed. Like jobs, these didn't create themselves.
6) GOP takes control of House in 2011. Bin Laden is killed in 2011. That is not a coincidence.

You, sir, are misinformed.
Having Republicans in the majority really helped the economy in the first quarter when there were positive jobs reports. As many Republican members of Congress remarked at the time, the turnaround was largely the result of the confidence the market gained from the Republican victory in the 2010 elections.
But when it became clear that the recovery was not as robust as many people thought, then we realized it was primarily Obama's responsibility because he didn't get the message of elections.

Republicans Take Credit for Jobs Report
"After the first really positive jobs report since they took control of the U.S. House -- less than two months ago -- House Republicans are taking some of the credit for the economy adding 192,000 jobs in February and for the unemployment rate declining below 9%," NBC News reports.
Sample quote from Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX): "The modest improvement can be attributed to two factors -- the free-market economy is slowly moving toward a recovery from this deep recession, and with Republicans controlling one lever of the lawmaking powers, job creators know the upper limits of the Democrats' legislative pain is behind them."

From what I hear, Democrats are threatening to shut the government down again. This time their excuse is that Republicans won't let them give government handouts to people how built their houses too close to the shore. The threat of another shutdown has got to be weighing on the market.
