Who dat say dey gonna keep this jury late? Not Criminal District Judge Camille Buras. (http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2011/09/new_orleans_saints_fans_on_jur.html)

She cut loose a jury in an attempted-murder trial at lunchtime Thursday, forestalling a conflict with the New Orleans Saints' (http://www.nola.com/saints/) opening-night tilt against the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/GB/green-bay-packers).
The 12-member jury seemed to send a strong hint to the court on Thursday. Many jurors showed up in black-and-gold Saints gear to the second day of a trial in which 19-year-old Tyrone Price stands accused of shooting a childhood acquaintance, Terry Burse, last year near O. Perry Walker High School in Algiers.
Burse, 20, is confined to a wheelchair after suffering shots to the head, shoulder and forearm. He waited with his family in a nearby courtroom hallway to testify on Thursday. He will wait some more.
The judge met with the attorneys about 1:30 p.m. as the jury finished lunch, then called off the afternoon's testimony.
Burse, who quickly identified Price to police after the shooting, and another witness are expected to take several hours to testify for the prosecution in the case.
The trial figured to go into Friday anyway, the judge said, and she thought it wise not to tempt the gridiron gods.
"We all kind of conceded it might be best to recess," said Buras, a Saints fan. "There was no point to be pushing the jury into the evening. We wouldn't want that distraction."
Several other criminal district courtrooms were closed Thursday or shut down early. The Monday holiday, glorious skies and the fresh scent of a new football season have conspired this week to hobble the wheels of justice.
The trial resumes this morning.
I'm the first to admit I'm the biggest Saints and LSU homer you will ever find. This is fucking pathetic.
