"She just wanted to get on a ride. That was it," Dena Meawad said of the initial confrontation. "It's clear, this all happened because we're Muslim."

John Hodges, chief inspector of Westchester County Public Safety, insisted that police did not use excessive force.

He said up to 100 cops from surrounding departments converged on the park.

Two park rangers were injured in the melee, prompting felony assault charges against two people arrested, officials said.

A theme park was forced to shut its gates to visitors when a mass brawl broke out after Muslim women were banned from rides unless they removed their headscarves.

Two park rangers were injured and 15 people, including three women, were arrested in the scuffle at Rye Playland in New York yesterday. They have since been charged with disorderly conduct and assault.

Muslim visitors involved in the fight accused police of brutality and claimed they were treated 'like animals'. One said: 'It's clear, this all happened because we're Muslim.'

Somebody needs to do a teevee show about a flying Muslim woman with her hijab, like they did with Sally Field (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnhgpVb-u5s) and her nun hat.

Having ridden these kinds of rides, it isn't about the religion, it is about loose clothing and head coverings. Any and all loose clothing, head coverings (hats, caps, do rags and head scarves among them) as well as bags, purses, backpacks and all manner of things are generally forbidden from the rides. Too much danger of them falling, being dropped or getting tangled in the machinery and making a live action version of those annoying Final Destination movies.

I've even been on a ride where you had to remove post earrings.
