I just got back from Stop & Shop. I see their discount, store-brand of cashews. Almost get it – $16.99. A little baby-sized thing of Häagen-Dazs = $12803498393.00.

I mean, I'm a jew, but still; like, without a doubt, ridiculousness

The G ‘n R famed guitarist finds his African-American white English nationalities amusing. “As a musician I’ve always been amused that I’m both British and black; particularly because so many American musicians seem to aspire to be British while so many British musicians, in the sixties in particular, went to such great pains to be black.”

I was watching thinking "Come on, it's not that bad. But why is this video 14 minutes long if the flood happened at the beginning? Oh, oh there's more flooding..."

The video description is full of weird information, such as:

They reported a leaking bathroom sink to their landlord. The landlord, a very problematic, very cheap, Persian female, calls in a self-appointed Hispanic plumber named Wilmer.

Does it really add anything to the story to know the plumber is Hispanic or that the landlord is Persian?

Also if this part is true it's just begging for this type of situation to happen:

This means, in order to shut the water off for this one apartment, the entire building's water would have to be shut down. The apartment complex requires a $150 fee to be paid every 30 minutes the water is turned off.

Why would you ever punish someone for doing something the safe way?

"Hey if you want to fix a leak you'll have to shut off the building's water, but if you shut off the water you'll have to cough up some money."

That's like saying "Wearing a seatbelt can save your life in a crash, but we're going to charge you 150 bucks every time you wear a seatbelt."

Astray

Yeah, that description is a weird mess. I don't think I've ever worked on any place that was like, "can't shut the water off because I'll be paying money to do so". Just, turn a fucking valve and boom, water is off.

Yeah the story about turning off the water to the entire building doesn't make sense. Like I guess it's possible you can't shut water off to just one apartment, but since when can't you shut the water off at the sink itself? What exactly was this guy doing, taking off entire pipes filled with water to fix a leak?

The fact that they had the vacuum already ready to go shows they either knew something was going to happen or this guy had been flooding the place before the video started.

What a mess. Darn cheap Persian females.

It's fucking impossible to find buildings that don't have a valve under the sink that shuts water off. Even so, I don't even think they could fine you if the reason you shut the water off was to fix a leak. As long as you notify your tenants you're doing it, of course. I think what he did was cut into a T under the valve but fuck. The guy had a shop vac! The same kind I use! They are great for vacuuming up water. I don't understand why he thought snaking the fucking hose down the toilet was a viable solution.

Shut the fucking water off!

So from the look of it, the guy was trying to fix a leak, most likely at a T. It would explain why he couldn't shut the water off at a valve commonly found under the sink. The vacuum lady was probably really trying her best. Just genuinely knowing what a shit show this was going to be.

28-year-old man suffers stroke from cracking his neck (https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/28-year-old-man-suffers-stroke-from-cracking-his-neck-1.4404875)

A man in his 20s suffered a potentially life-threatening stroke after cracking his neck.

Josh Hader, 28, from Guthrie, Oklahoma tore his vertebral artery, a crucial vessel leading to the brain.

“The moment I heard the pop, everything on my left side started to go numb,” Hader told KOCO 5 News in the U.S.

“I got up and tried to get an ice pack from the fridge, and I remember I couldn't walk straight.”

Hader’s father-in-law rushed him to the emergency room at the city’s Mercy Hospital.

“He could have had a life-ending stroke. He could have died,” said Dr. Vance McCollom, a radiologist at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City.

“If you have a stroke in that area, you can end up with a patient who’s locked in,” McCollom said.

“They completely understand what's going on, but they can't communicate. They can't move anything. They can't speak. They can't breathe.”

Hader’s stroke did cause some damage: for the first few days he couldn’t walk without a walker, his right eye was weaker, he suffered double vision and he still has difficulty walking with his left leg.

“One of the muscles that goes to his eye is weak because the nerve was injured,” McCollom said.

The father-of-two young boys had to wear an eye patch for several weeks and he suffered another unusual side effect; painful hiccups for a week and a half.

But Hader said the most difficult part of his recovery has been emotional, not being able to help his wife with their children.

“I can't pick him (the baby) up out of the crib, give him milk in the middle of the night. I can't do any of that,” Hader said.

Hader’s treatment involves medicine and physical therapy.

Meanwhile, his physician warns others about being careful how you crack your neck.

“If you want to pop your neck, just kind of pop it side to side. Don't twist it,” McCollum said.

“Whenever you twist it there's a risk of tearing that vessel. I suspect he just turned it (his head) real sharp and up, sharp and up and back. That's what really pinched it.”

Hader will likely have lifelong consequences from the stroke, the doctor said.

“There is evidence that, in rare cases, actions related to a sharp twist or movement of the neck could lead to a dissection which could potentially cause a stroke,” Dr. Patrice Lindsay, director of systems change and stroke program at Canada’s Heart and Stroke Foundation told CTVNews.ca.

“Canadians who experience any neck pain should have it checked by their primary physician to determine the type of treatment that may be required.”

Meanwhile in England, a 23-year-old paramedic is also reported to have suffered a stroke after popping her neck.

Natalie Kunicki, who works for London Ambulance Service, ruptured her vertebral artery too, according to the Daily Mail.

She is slowly regaining her mobility, but doctors are unsure when and if she will ever fully recover.

A stroke happens when blood stops flowing to any part of the brain, damaging brain cells.

The effects of a stroke depend on the part of the brain that was damaged and the amount of damage done.

EDIT: Apparently everything can give you a stroke

Other things that can lead to a tear in the carotid artery include violently coughing or sneezing, having a chiropractic adjustment to the neck, or doing any other sudden, drastic neck movement, like dancing, explains Dr. Bahr Hosseini. People who live with health conditions that can weaken the arteries and blood vessels, like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or fibromuscular dysplasia, are at higher risk. Those who smoke, have high blood pressure, or get regular migraines are also more likely to suffer a carotid artery tear.

Think I'm going to just sit still for the rest of my life now.

It's hard to enjoy a movie about a man with limitless powers and zero weaknesses, isn't it? I mean, I get it. He was one of, or the first modern superhero. They hadn't really perfected the formula yet. But I mean..even Heracles was kind of a douchebag. Superman I is great.

Superman II is great, and General Zod is the shit.

Superman III is ok if you don't take it too seriously. Drunk Superman is the most underrated character ever and needs his own movie. Which is actually kind of happening with that BrightBurn movie despite not being an official Superman movie. Superman III was also an inspiration for Office Space.

Superman IV is pure garbage and should be avoided at all costs other than to experience 93 minutes of cringe.

Superman Returns is newer pure garbage.

Man of Steel was good. Not perfect but still good.

Batman v Superman was good too, other than the Doomsday's identify twist which was stupid as fuck and shits all over the actual Doomsday character from the comics.

I also fell asleep for like the last 2/3 of the movie because I was tired as fuck and never went back to finish it, but I still remember liking the movie.

There will never be another Lex Luthor as good as Gene Hackman, and there will never be Clark Kent as good as Christopher Reeve's.

And Otis. Otis is my hero.

This is pretty much how I feel about Supermans. It's really hard to find something that's going to challenge him without it feeling contrived, and if you put him in a movie with other people that aren't at his level they wind up seeming useless. He's really only interesting if you're exploring the nature of his power (which I give the DC films a little credit for until they dialed it up to 11 and kept making Messiah comparisons) but they have mostly been DBZ-level spectacles of smashing buildings and lasers firing into the sky. Justice League should have had a hard cut-to-credits when Superman arrived.

They hadn't really perfected the formula yet. But I mean..even Heracles was kind of a douchebag. Your story doesn't get thousands of years of staying power without a character arc or something to overcome. Superman's deal is like...he's immune to everything and can do all the things. There's never any danger of him failing.

So what do you think about Rey?

There's a lot of applications that would make the implant incredible but why does it have wireless access? It should be an implant that you can put a chip in and it only assists with that.

You have a dedicated service place for that. If you make it easily accessible, which it is, you can likely have a shop front that applies the update with like an hour visit.

I think there's two milestones that need to be achieved before this stuff reveals it's true potentials. First being a non-invasive form of connecting to a network, which really does not seem to be too difficult a goal to achieve. The second milestone will be the ability to upload, transfer and download consciousness. If they can figure that out, it changes everything about humanity.

I think neuralink will turn out to be Musks most important venture. It ties in really well with his ultimate goal of putting man on Mars.

Before we get there, 3D printing of joint replacements exists, and 3D printing of organ replacements is in its infancy.

Think ... StarTrek replicator.

For conciousness transfers, maybe StarTrek transporter, without the IMMEDIATE send ... slow transfer with some computerized memory retention.

For time travel (or best appearance of time travel), localized gravitational control.

Its always fun to look at current science and engineering progresses and attempt to determine the answer to two questions:
1) Where is it in the technological readiness spectrum (idea, formulation, shown in the lab ... all the way up to ... commercially available at low cost)?
2) what needs to be done next to make it more technologically feasible?

From what I have watched of the recent presentation, a "circuit" needs to be within a few mm of a neuron to work. That's why there needs to be internal connections. My guess this will eventually be done using injections of microchips, which is a technology that's already in existence. I don't think most people relish the idea of micro fibers running out of their skulls. A series of micron sized chips on the other hand, I would totally do it.

Super cool robots with amazing stability. A bit slow, and lousy job of pallet stacking. Actually you can buy a bot that will do that stacking about 10x as fast, and much more accurately, but it will be in a fixed position. Cobots are where the action is. Basically robot assistance for repetitive, menial tasks.

Unfortunately, many things will continue to become obsolete and "lost arts" - while those few persons still around who have the mastery in them already will benefit immensely. It's exciting and also a little bit scary to be alive in a time when the world for humanity is changing so quickly - arguably the fastest in human history.

I was just getting to the part where IBM and Google are debating the point of quantum vs. binary computers - also reading up on quantum computers. It looks as though technology itself is going to replace almost all logistics jobs - starting in the IT industry - and especially related to software. AI has already begun replacing repetitive manual labor style jobs. Most of the highest paying jobs in the future will be be "hands on" techs working with hardware & AI - and master artists / craftsman with 20+ years of experience in their field. I'd argue that these techs are also artists / craftsmen of a kind.

I wonder if that's the kind of thing that gets your wife's passing investigated.

I would be tempted to dig a very deep hole in my backyard.

Retired Houston police captain and former Marine Greg Fremin said the military carefully tracks all of its weapons because any misplaced weapons can be extremely dangerous. …Yeah they are so carefully tracked that they were sitting a box for decades & mistakenly sold to the public. In Afghanistan when you use Uber Black the driver picks you up in an Apache that we left behind, but stateside we can’t have nice things.

It was great to watch some of the smartest people in the world put together the largest rocket in the world and send it on a flight for ~8 minutes and gather tons of telemetry results to make it safer and improved the next time.

Meanwhile, Fetterman is reading from his extra large font childrens book in stop and start english for the first time ever, exposing PA elected a mentally retarded person to the senate.

One of these is an accomplishment that will aid humanity for years, if not decades.

The other, exposes our leaders for what they are, morons that'll destroy our country from within for years, if not decades.
