View Full Version : Trump Far Ahead of Rivals in New Poll

Donald Trump has driven the "birther" message to first place in the GOP primary field, according to a new poll, opening up a clear lead over Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney.

The survey released Friday by Public Policy Polling showed the New York developer snaring 26 percent of the primary vote, while Huckabee takes 17 percent, Romney gets 15 percent, and Newt Gingrich grabs 11 percent.

Sarah Palin, at whose expense Trump is clearly able to forge a path, takes just 8 percent, while Ron Paul has 5 percent. Michele Bachmann ties with fellow Minnesotan Tim Pawlenty for 4 percent.

Where Trump's support is coming from is clear — 23 percent of the GOP voters say they will only support a someone who doubts President Barack Obama's birthplace, and among those voters, Trump is surging. He gets more than a third of those who say they want a birther, while he gets less than 20 percent of those who aren't sure they want a birther at the top of their ticket.

Just 38 percent said they will go for a candidate who comes out hard against the birther issue, and Romney leads among that group.

What should Trump do not if he wants to preserve his momentum? There's talk that he may make some announcement on his teevee reality show. What I think he really needs to do is separate the men from the boys in the Republican field by forcing the other candidates to take a position at the first GOP debate, held as usual at the Reagan Library in early May.

I hate Trump for one reason. I had to drive my shitty car to Choate everyday and watch his daughter get helicoptered in.

Cool story bro: JFK almost got kicked out of Choate for letting a donkey loose in the cafeteria.

Conservatives must be pissed at this.

Trump's a risky move for them. On the one hand, I'm sure there's some attempt to make the birther BS a "gay marriage amendment" style wedge issue with Trump's nation media access. On the other hand, I'm sure it's embarassing to most right thinking conservatives and might alienate other voters.

I've never wanted to be Canadian. Ever.

Here is a picture from a friend who lives in Canada... even he hates it:

Of course, I had to rub it in his face that Florida is awesome

I'm not going to get into the whole birther thing, but asking for proof of religious or medical decisions is ridiculous. Circumcision has nothing to do with being President- for most men it was a decision they did not make.

And what if a woman ran? Hmmm?

I think Giffords could win, regardless of which party she ran for.

On overwhelming 97 percent of the GOP voters say they will only support someone doesn't appear to have the very rare and endangered double combover.

Donald Trump has the exact same chance to be President of the U.S. as ClydeR. What I think he needs to do is come to the PC and pose as an extreme liberal Democrat in order to educate us on the perils of liberalism (since he used to be a Democrat that won't be much of a stretch).

Most pools in Florida have those enclosures.. mostly for safety for kids and keeping away big ass bugs. It's screen.

Those were designed to keep leaves out originally, as they bring in a lot of dirt and algae which can quickly destroy your pumps.

Plus, Florida is full of alligators and boa constrictors which are also not good for kids.
