I live in Tampa and we are high on the unemployment list (12.6% Nov '10 Rank #337 out of 372).. and I see plenty of help wanted signs.

Houston, while better at 8.8% (Rank 185 out of 372) is right in the middle of the list.

I have no way to verify your anecdotal observation. I live in Houston, so I know what Gan's seeing and the explanations for it.

I did?
Are you sure?

Sorry, you are right, Big Worm posted the out of date info. You are just the moron to defend it as accurate and up to date info. When called on it, you rush to the defense of D team all the while continuing your typical low standard of debate having no value or substance. Keep up the good work, your team is counting on such scintillating discussion and expert debate skills to keep them afloat. If I were them, I would invest heavily in scuba gear.

As soon as you meet the standard of always supporting your debate with factual and up to date information then I might have reason to bother doing the same. Until then, keep on trolling, D team needs you.

It's nice to see someone that is finally non-partisan.

Unfortunately for your "explanation", the unemployment rate for Houston doesn't follow your logic. 8.8% is still considered a high unemployment rate.

A spending cut.. something we haven't seen since 2006 when the Democrats took over. And not sure how ou determined this was the "final" one.. since the new Congress is only a month old.

so the economy has finally (over the last 4 months) started to show some real recovery thats backed up by wall street. I suppose the minority controlled republicans in the house and senate had EVERYTHING to do with it, and the current crop will try and take all the credit.

Or.... wait, we can simply admit, that like him or not, Obama has done a lot more than Bush. which in truth, still says very little, and by no means qualifies him, or the congress or senate of the last 2 years as effective, but merely more effective than a retarded religious zealot running the white house with a church choir backing every single stupid move he made until 2007, when he lost congress and the senate.

Or parkbandit could apply some basic logic to his qualifying statement, and understand that a person losing a 50k+ a year job would qualify for the top levels of unemployment checks (560 a week = about 14 dollars an hour), and is not likely to take a 10 dollar an hour job until the unemployment benefits are exhausted.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to read basic facts and know that the economy has still recovered only a fraction of those higher paying jobs.

Here in Texas, specifically san antonio, very few of the highest level of jobs were ever lost (150k+), but probably close to 10% of those jobs between 50-80k were lost. Help wanted at a grocery store is not going to get those people working again. Not unless you like fudging numbers and making shit up.

Who are you referring to.. that gave all the credit to the Republicans? Oh right, you are just making that shit up.

Seriously, stick with WoW, because you are politically retarded.

And not sure how ou determined this was the "final" one.. since the new Congress is only a month old.The Republican program has nothing to do with meaningfully cutting spending, and has everything to do with going after the stuff they've been going after for years - healthcare and abortion at the top of the list.

This bill went from $2.5 trillion to $32 billion. They seem to be about as devoted to real spending cuts as the Democrats are to a solid universal healthcare plan.

After 4 years of Democrat controlled Congress.. I'm willing to give the new Republican majority in the House more than a month.

And like I said.. 32 billion is 32 billion more than the previous Congress saved. At least we are headed in the right direction.
