Well in that particular instance it was an actual website and the board was an offshoot of that website the website is still in existence and has been doing pretty well but I went ahead and took my design with me and created my own board which is only in it's baby stages at the moment. I haven't done anything with it to market it or anything yet, because I still have much work to do.

Let me show you all an example of a message board that has been successfully marketed on the internet and is making money hand over fist. They do this because not only do they have their own charge system for their "platinum" members where they pay for extra options but they also have ad revenue. Their traffic is amazing, and the owners are coming out very nicely on the deal.

Sure you could go the blog route if you wanted you can basically use anything that's marketable to make money these days on the internet. Message boards are only marketable to a certain degree I will admit, but marketable and profitable always equals a good thing in my book. Especially if you are truly passionate about what you're doing.

Well as I mentioned before successful comes later, right now I have so much to do with it it's not funny. I have to reduce the amount of threads in the Politics section as well because The European on down is totally messed up and my original idea for that went to shit. However, I have been slowly taking care of that day by day. Eventually I will have those organized, and then, when I am done with each forum, I will start working on the other areas that I would be interested in.

I can't wait till I get members that actually start sharing videos and such because I am a message board person myself as are you guys so you understand where I am coming from with that I'm sure. I love the community of a message board where as with a blog it is entirely different because it's not quite as social and you don't feel quite as home with it or at least that's my opinion.

As with any message board, all it takes is a small cluster of people to start talking back and forth to each other on a regular basis on the board and then everything is automatic from there. A small cluster could start with 2 people. 2 people who see the board and start posting in the different categories with an interest.
