View Full Version : The Purge of CPAC

The premier conservative confab has long been the Conservative Political Action Conference, held early each year in Washington, D.C. Normally, Republican wannabes pine for speaking invitations. But not necessarily this year.

This year, the "Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America, are refusing to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference in February because a homosexual activist group, GOProud, has been invited," according (http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=244741) to World Net Daily. They're not the only groups not attending, but they are some of the most prominent. Liberty University is also pulling out. GOProud is a Republican group for homosexuals who support the Republican platform, except for the parts about homosexuals, which is really the biggest part of the platform.

A WND editorial makes clear that it's time for a purge at CPAC. Will the Republican candidates join the boycott?

Conservatives need God's help, not GOProud's.

Purges can make an organization or a movement stronger.

Purges can help to refine, rather than redefine, what an ideology is all about.

Purges can sharpen and strengthen a movement – bringing it back to the core convictions and principles that made it successful.

Other social-issues groups opting to avoid the conference include the Heritage Foundation, the Family Research Council, the Center for Military Readiness, the American Family Association, the American Principles Project, the Liberty Counsel and the National Organization for Marriage.

"Obviously, those are important groups and need to be part of CPAC in the future," said board member Al Cardenas. "It's regretful having great groups pull out. We've got to make sure we have the right steps in place so we can have everyone there next year."

Heritage is out too! This is big news. Heritage has long been considered a libertarian group concerned mostly with fiscal responsibility. The libertarian wing of the Republican Party is getting just a bit too uppity and forgetting that it is the social conservatives who are and should be most influential. Heritage has been put in its place, and it's time for the rest of the GOP to fall in line.

Careful, kick out too many of those that don't fit the strict Social model you want, which has proven too conservative to attract the moderate vote and not plentiful enough to do without it, and you might get a rude surprise. Would be a shame to see a second term for the Messiah in Chief due to the fanatic wing of the RNC doing stupid shit.

After the boycott by the real conservatives, it looks like CPAC is having a change of heart.

Al Cardenas, the new chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU), announced on CSPAN Wednesday that his organization, which hosts the annual CPAC event, will now vet organizations before allowing them to participate.

Cardenas said that groups advocating for the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” or supporting gay marriage would not be welcome.

The commonly held three legs of the conservative movement include fiscal conservatism, social conservatism, and national defense conservatism. The new vetting process may have farther-reaching implications if all organizations are tested for adherence to all three legs.

Cardenas stressed that gay individuals would remain welcome to attend CPAC.

“It has got to do with the principles you advocate” said Cardenas. “There are a number of gays in America who don’t advocate gays in the military or gay marriage. They’ll fit within the tent.”

So what you're saying Clyde is that its okay to be gay but not to talk about it, are you trying to tell us something about yourself?

It's not the ideal solution, but it is a good solution. It's a solution that should remind the libertarians that they are not the bosses of the Republican Party.

The three legs of the stool is a reference to Rick Santorum's speech at CPAC. In his speech he used his stool as a guideline for forming an acceptable big tent coalition.

I bet you would love to turn that stool upside down and have a seat, wouldn't you?

That's because you use Google for your searches. Santorum's stool is the triple foundation of a political surge that will return Republicans to power.

I do not require Google to help me identify a pile of shit when I see it.
