Washington (CNN) -- Greenhouse gas emissions pose a threat to public health and welfare, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said Monday.

"The overwhelming amount of scientific studies show that the threat is real," she said.

The announcement stems from a Supreme Court ruling which ordered the agency to determine the impact of carbon emissions not only on the environment, but on public health.

More... (http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/12/07/epa.greenhouse.gases/)

This announcement is about leverage. Leverage to force the Senate to pass an awful cap-and-trade system like Obama and McCain said they wanted during the campaign. There's no way the Senate was going to pass a cap-and-trade law before today.

But now... Now they have to pass something. Otherwise, the entire regulation of greenhouse gases will be in the hands of the White House. The only thing likely to pass is a cap-and-trade bill. Watch for RINOs to fall in line supporting it.

So says Clyde.

The supreme court is just asking the EPA to do what they're mandated to do. The direct impact on people has never been the entire focus of the EPA. Congress is free to pass a law changing the EPA's mandate.

I don't doubt that those who are now running the EPA are slanted in one direction though, just as they were slanted i the opposite direction when Bush Jr was president.

You realize that the EPA, under the Evil Dictator George W Bush, declared CO2 a pollutant for the first time in history.. right?

How is that the opposite direction from what they are doing now again?

What does that have to do with the Supreme Court?
