Amid fierce criticisms, Lincoln University has recently installed a new requirement for its undergraduate students. If your BMI is over 30, you are required to take a physical education class.

This new requirement has caused an uproar from some students and professors who argue that the university is actively discriminating against those who are obese. Some students argue that their time at Lincoln may be prolonged because of an additional class.

I approve. Instead of spending a lot of money on health care bills that will take our guns (http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2009/11/23/reality-check-health-insurance-reform-not-a-guns-bill), we should be making fat college kids get in shape if they want a diploma.

Oh. I judged the thread title to mean they wanted fat kids to do more walking. :D

But that's cool. My college frequently offered free BMI assessments, although everyone was required to take some kind of physical fitness or well-being course.

I know it's ClydeR but everyone at my school had to take 2 PE classes to graduate.. free gym where you fill out a piece of paper that says you went to the gym every so often and volleyball were not going to get anyone into shape.

I took an 8 am jogging class during a very cold spring semester. That was a poor life decision.

It used to be a requirement here... they scrapped it to save money. :(

This school isn't making everyone take PE classes, just the fat ones, if they want a diploma.

Bad financial decision along with clearly being on the last line of socially acceptable discrimination. Got to love those bigots, can't publicly discriminate on sex and race and so on, so they find something else to fill their discrimination fetish. Want to bet that enrollment drops with this decision?

They should ban fat people from all elevators on campus.

*And use a more accurate rating system than BMI.

Equal protection + BMI being a stupid scale (bodybuilders have BMIs off the roof) = fail.

P.S. Jeez, I can't believe I wasted post 250 on Clyde.
