WASHINGTON — The top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan has reported to President Barack Obama that without more troops the U.S. risks failure in a war it's been waging since September 2001.

"Resources will not win this war, but under-resourcing could lose it," Gen. Stanley McChrystal wrote in a five-page Commander's Summary. His 66-page report, sent to Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Aug. 30, is now under review by Obama.

General McChrystal runs (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E04E2DA113FF930A25756C0A96F9C8B 63) to work every morning while listening to audio books, eats just one meal per day in the evenings and sleeps only a few hours a night. Considering his strong opinion, I definitely think we should send a lot more soldiers to Afghanistan.

So your satirical point is because the guy lives an unorthodox lifestyle his official recommendation as general is less valid?

No, McChrystal definitely eats, drinks and sleeps the military. If anybody would know what we should do, it would be someone with his devotion.

Your stupid acting aside... I'll give his experience and knowledge far more weight than anyone sitting at a desk in DC.

Absolutely. As usual, you and I are on the same page. McChrystal was in charge of all commando operations in Iraq until Bush reorganized operations there in 2008 and did the Surge. Liberals criticized the way that McChrystal made Pat Tillman into a national hero, but those liberals were just being unpatriotic.

If there's anybody in the military with a record that suggests credibility, it's definitely McChrystal. Just look at how confident he was in his leaked report. If we don't send more troops, we might lose, he said. If we send more troops, we might not win, he said. Democrats always criticized Bush for seeing only black and white. Well McChrystal is definitely satisfying their need for shades of gray.
