View Full Version : Mike Huckabee Is Mad!

And rightly so.

Huckabee, who came in second in the 2008 Republican nomination contest, is taking off the gloves in preparation for 2012. Huckabee has been a friendly likable person for his whole political career, making we wonder if this newly displayed facet of his personality will win votes.

The Republicans had a terrible general election, but Huckabee, who turned 54 last week, has been smart enough to notice that his party has gone quickly from despair and disillusionment to a new emotion: anger.

He also has noticed that it doesn’t take much to energize the hard-core Republican base these days. Sarah Palin did it with two words: death panels.

More... (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0809/26635.html)

So Huckabee doesn’t just oppose Obama on health care or make jokes about it. Huckabee says that “Lenin and Stalin would love this stuff” when it comes to Obama’s “health care rationing.” Huckabee also says: “The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics may be dead, but a Union of American Socialist Republics is being born.”

If things were a little more geared toward lowering insurance premiums, and a little less about !COMPLETE AND TOTAL CHANGE OF ALL THAT WE KNOW! all of this might be a little less terrifying. It's natural that people are scared. Big things are happening out of everyones control. It's a culture bomb with an epicenter of DC. But nice try blaming it on Palin though. :)

Does it offend you that I remind people that woman used her retarded child as a political prop?

I agree Keller. Palin was obviously trying to hoard votes from the capable masses of Downs Syndrome afflicted voters. And Republicans. I'm pretty sure being Republican is a form of retardation. Especially in California.

I think she was trying to remind pro-lifers that there is NO more pro-life candidate than Sarah never-forget-I-chose-to-give-birth-to-a-retard Palin.

I don't think was going for the Downs Syndrome voters.

Although I agree with the rest of what you wrote.

I hope your child is born without any problems or conditions.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that I doubt Sarah Palin wanted a kid with DS... and she used her children like every other political candidate (including Obama) as a political "prop".

But hey.. you should continue to make fun of a child because of a birth defect.. it never gets old. Really.

I hope so, too.

I can't imagine anyone hoping for a child with any kind of disability. In fact, I hope my kid is an intelligent, good-looking, tall, athletic, handsome, big-dicked man because that would give him every genetic advantage available in our society.

But I hope if he's got Down's Syndrome, I wouldn't use his disability to promote my career.

And when people bring it up, I always remind them I am making fun of Sarah Palin, not Trig. Trig was born the way he is -- Sarah Palin chose to exploit it.

Have to agree with Keller. She said something to the effect of, "When I chose to give birth to Trig, even though, God bless him, he has Down's Syndrome, I thought to myself, 'Sarah, every life is precious in God's eyes.' Now, it might be a pretty big burden sometimes, but I know I'm doing God's work with him" every time she spoke.

She used him as a talking point on issues of: religion, motherhood, charity, abortion, etc. He was the main example in an ethical argument.

It's not very likely.. unless you aren't the father.. (CWHUTIDIDTHER!)

There is a pretty big difference between you and a politician. I know very few of my bosses that actually met my wife, let alone my kids.

So, if one of Obama's kids was born with DS, would he be exploiting her? I don't see the difference between Obama parading his kids around and Sarah parading her kids around. Hell, I've seen Bush's kids, Cheney's kids, Gore's kids, Clinton's kid, etc.. are they all exploiting them? Or is it only an exploitation when your kid has Down's Syndrome?

At this point.. you look extremely partisan as you've never made the accusation that Obama has exploited his children... only Palin.. and really only in the case of Trig.

Well, not exactly. Both Obama and Palin said they wanted to keep their kids out of the limelight, but while Obama rarely mentioned his, Palin used hers as a major talking point. The only times I can recall Obama mentioning his kids on a national stage are when he said things like, "I know I'd want that for my daughters" and when he talked about promising them a puppy in his victory speech.

If I only made the comment with respect to Trig, and not with respect to the rest of the Brady Bunch, why do you think that is?

It's like you made my point for me. Thank you.

I also think Sarah Palin used her pregnant daughter and military son as political props, too.

But I've not offended by that.

I don't know why it pisses me off that she exploited her retarded son, but doesn't offend me when politicians otherwise use their kids as props.

I really don't see how what Palin said opens the door to continual joke about a retarded child. What she said was all true. She could have aborted him but she didn't. It's admirable.

But her continual stress on that fact isn't, and leads one to think that she didn't abort him purely for political reasons.

I think Chris Rock said it best:

You know the worst thing about niggas? Niggas always want credit for some shit they supposed to do. A nigga will brag about some shit a normal man just does. A nigga will say some shit like, "I take care of my kids." You're supposed to, you dumb motherfucker! What kind of ignorant shit is that?

It is not admirable, it is deplorable. Sorry.

Extrapolation, and not really earnest extrapolation at that, but the gulf's not that big.

Also, "jumped the shark?" Jumped the gun? Got ahead of myself? Took a running leap into the unknown?

Ok. Something just clicked in my head. Perspective. Hindsight is 20/20? Whateva. I just laughed my ass off because I finally agree on this issue with you (to a certain degree). But I still think it is wrong to make fun of a retarded baby!

Maybe because we were talking about politicians using their families as props.. and not a 70's TV show?

You had a point? Care to articulate it.. because I must have missed it.

You have a problem with Palin using her kid with DS as a "prop".

I said all politicians use their kids/family as a prop.. much like Obama has done.

The only people that would jump to such a conclusion are those who have an axe to grind and simply want to ignore any sort of factual basis.

People, IET, Essence, and Parade? Okay, good point, but they're all popular magazines. The difference between Obama and Palin was that Obama rarely mentioned his kids on the political stage, though as you're showing here, he did talk about them in more relaxed circumstances. They weren't part of his overt political platform.

The only people that would jump to such a conclusion are those who have an axe to grind and simply want to ignore any sort of factual basis.

Really? I'm not saying it was the primary reason, obviously, but ask yourselves this: You know you'll be running on a conservative religious platform, and you know you're pregnant with a kid with Down Syndrome. You know you have two options. Does your political future influence you to choose one?
