Yes, it'll be going on at your local Nordstrom! Actually, if there is stuff you NEED for the coming season, the anniversary sale is a great time to buy because of the discount. I always get running gear, tights, underwear, bras, etc. And then, of course, the various and sundry "I need this for work!" purchases that inevitably end up in there no matter how much I try not to look. The shoes actually fall under the "I need these to live" category, so that's an entirely issue altogether.

New Balance is a great brand and you picked a good looking model.

If you intend to wear those in a professional environment I must give you a :/

If I was a professional, I'd care. Standing on concrete 8 hours a day means making some attempt to find comfort. The steel-toed boots I did have left my right heel hurting like a son of a bitch. Although, they were cheap and six months old. Black tennis shoes, running or cross-trainers are acceptable...granted I may have to add a non-slip bootie over them, but if they keep my feet from hurting...

Thread: Shoes Shoes Shoes
really very cute. ot: typo in your sig. it's "color".

It's a Wuthering Heights quote and that's how it's spelled in the novel. Color is spelled 'colour' in British English. Or, at least it was in the 19th century.

Thank you for the positive rep, though.

I thought, when I saw your handle, that this was going to be a bot bump. Glad I was wrong.

And really? You think those are casual shoes? Is it because they have cork as one of the materials or is it because they are not black? What kind of shoe do you classify as dressy?

Inquiring minds!

Jess78080
09-07-2012, 09:05 AM
It's not the color. It's the cork, but also the design of the platform/ heel itself. That chunky look gives it a more relaxed feel, like it's closer to a wedge. I've personally always thought cork heels/ cork wedges are more of a day look. It's a par of shoes I'll wear I'll wear more with a day dress, or a pair of casual shorts.

I guess as far as shoes that I consider to be dressier, I'd say anything that's more of a patent leather with a higher heel, something with a pointed toe, or a shoes with a metal heel. Or moreso a shoe that has more than one of those qualities. Black can definitely go either way. Of course I think any shoe that falls into the evening category is easier to dress down than something vise- versa. I just bought these heels ↓↓↓ and even though they're more dressy, I find Ive been wearing them with cut- off jean shorts and a boyfriend blazer. (The stock photo really sucks, because it's more of a light pinkish- nude than this color below)

Leifa, The detailing at the top is gorgeous! I <3 riding boots. The only thing I'm a little ish about is the toe, hard to tell with one photo.

Meh, the toe is alright with me, it's the height I'm worried about. I've got some hefty calf action!

Also, no such luck on the sale price. These babies are brand spanking new, a hot ticket, and cost a bazillion trillion dollars (might as well be, anyway).

They too easily lose sight of ensuring that a pair of shoes would serve a functional purpose on a day-to-day basis, and are instead caught up in a "oooh, this looks interesting" mental zone where all forms of logic are left void.

This phenomenon has been known to develop in the moment that entry into a shoe store is established.

Your shoes are always sexy as hell but they also look like torture devices. I prefer a platform boot or a well encompassed wedge sandal. I'm pretty active and also relatively clumsy so teetering on stiletto heels just does NOT work for me. Sexy isn't sexy when you're splayed out on the floor!

I actually read a study once that suggested that people who insist on flushing toilets with their shoe instead of using their hand actually make things worse. All of those nice and juicy germs that are on the bottom of people's shoes are now on the toilet handle so people who flush the old fashioned way now have those germs on their hands. If the original person had just used their hand there would be much less germs on the handle. So now since some people have started this trend it's actually better to flush with your shoe because other people are doing it, not because the handle normally has a lot of germs on it from other people's hands.

Yes I was bored, both when I read that study and when I typed up this response just now.

So...

When at a hobo-like friend's place (we all know people who are just slobs), or anywhere that is 'public restroom' (the bastion of santitation), flush with your shoe.

When at home, or at a clean/tidy friend's place, you can err on using your hand to flush.

I'd venture any such study where a toilet is used by a handful of people vs a multitude, will see significantly less germs (at least variety of) detected for the former.

To be fair I'm sure the same people who insist on using their shoe to flush the toilet are the same people who are oblivious that bathrooms contain sinks and soap.

Possibly, but then again, the faucets to the sinks are probably just as bad, germ-wise, particularly in 'public restrooms' due to the inevitability that some dude who pissed on his hands used it.

Oh oh ... what about those faucets that you have to manually turn off, after just having washed your hands with soap?

I suppose at least Latrinsorm is covered in all such circumstances with his instant hand sanitizer.

I'd venture any such study where a toilet is used by a handful of people vs a multitude, will see significantly less germs (at least variety of) detected for the former.

Pretty much all I wear are tennies, so don't be surprised. Took a picture of my awesome\sparkly\purple tennies in the sunlight where they sparkle more. MOAR SPARKLE!!!

The downside is when I walk in the sun they distract me with all their brilliant colors and I just stare at my feet. I'm going to walk into something I just know it.

Also love my hot pink rain boots with steel toes for fishing and working with the chickens!

I will never understand how women will spend thousands of dollars for a designer name. A friend of mine worked at Kate Spade and she had this shirt that was too small for her and gave it to me. It was normally like $295. I'll take a picture of it when I get home if I remember.. but it is pretty ridiculous. Not only is it pretty ugly, but you can't even tell that it's Kate Spade unless you're looking at the tag in the weird collar.

These have heels that are taller than I would usually consider but I just like the look of these. No idea who made them though, random picture from internet:

I always want to get behind new shoes, but those sneakers are very neon for my taste. So much of the 80s coming back that should have stayed there, imho. I am still jealous, though. I want some new shoes! Those red Frye boots are fucking amazing. I love my 70s Frye's, which I have posted here before. I think I will wear them this weekend, even though it's hitting mid 60s. I feel like it's never too warm for boots, though. Maybe it's the equestrian in me? Speaking of which, I need a new pair of these:

These were the most subdued pair, to be honest

When I think neon, I have a bad memory of a very bad outfit choice that happened in the 80s. I once wore this neon pink thing with a neon green belt and some other horrid color thick puffy socks and matching hair bow with black tights and ankle boots. I felt stupid as hell but it was the style. Things didn't go well at all and so I toned that shit down. I've made bad outfit choices since but I try to keep to less colorful hues. I was freaked out to wear neon orange for Halloween a couple years ago but had to breathe and remember, it's what Leeloo wore, it's okay, just do eeet! It's very much PTSD. Carry on with your love of color, girrl.
