Hobbit wear! I didn't think of them like that but I could see a halfling cobbler making something like them for hobbits with a soft and hard leather. No matter how tough the soles of their feet are I am sure Samwise would have liked a pair when hiking around Mount Doom.

I just got the right size today and I am rockin' the hobbit wear as we speak. Gonna take it easy and practice walking with them first before running. When I start running with them it will only be for about 20 minutes on treadmill until I feel very comfortable. I have read some horror stories of fanatical runners injuring their feet and ankles because they didn't ease into barefoot running. As much as the thought of running around barefoot reminds of my childhood I am an adult now and it would be idiotic to rush into it as a child would.

Terrible shoes are terrible! My feet are pretty much saddle leather by now so I never have that problem but maybe....buy shoes with a soft leather backing on the inside or just a thin strip of quality leather covering the stitches. Anything that feels rough to the touch on the inside will be magnified 100 times by wearing them for hours.
