John G. Roberts, Jr <----Was going with that originally even though I don't think I've ever heard of either of them

I had to make an educated guess at no. 9 about which was not an original state.

I don't know why a person would need to know that for citizenship. The main question ought to be if the applicant is patriotic and god fearing.

I only got it right because her museum was in Rochester NY and I went to it.

I got 14, 16 and 19 wrong. I shouldn't have gotten 14 or 16 wrong, I honestly had no clue on 19 (bad American).

<<Question #11 is incorrect. The executive branch only has the Constitutional power to declare treaties with the consent of the Senate. I got 80% taking that into account.>>

The federal government prints money, declares war, and declares treaties. The question seems right to me. The executive branch (part of the federal government) declaring a treaty with the consent of the Senate (part of the federal government) is still the federal government declaring a treaty.

I think the reason many people don't do well is because a lot of this information is forced on them during the early years of elementary school and is from that point on hardly ever used in the vast majority of working positions and is never really discussed again in school.

Or they could just be bad Americans who should be deported immediately.

But yeah, grats on having a good memory rada.

And also, it's worth noting that people that take the test for actual citizenship pass it because they study it beforehand.

I was going to mention that I don't remember talking about any of this in Elementary School, but then it occurred to me that I couldn't tell you where I learned those things. :(

Most people would not be able to pass that test. That test reflects a basic understanding of how our government works. And a bit of history. I could do without some of the history, unless critical to the basic premise of 'ability to vote'.

No wonder we're in/ we've been in such trouble for the past few years. They're distinterested and apathetic. Nobody cares and they feel it's fundamentally unimportant- like they have no power. Yet they, en masse, refuse to educate themselves about it.

It's really, really, sad to me.

ElanthianSiren

Political Science in college (undergrad).

Probably more that actually. HS was more or less a continuance of middle school fuuuuuuuuuuuck all for me. I loved political science in college and took a special studies in criminal justice course when I thought I wanted to go into forensics, so that answers that, thanks :)

Betsy Ross is the popular answer; however, there appears to be some controversy as to the design of the 'first' flag.
