Israel and the Palestinians agreed, under the patient diplomatic supervision of President George W. Bush, to the "Road Map" in 2003. Among other things, the Road Map required Israel to stop building settlements in land that the Road Map gave to Palestine.
But President Bush made a secret agreement, which was not part of the published Road Map, with Israel that Israel could continue building in the Palestinian lands. It was secret so that the Palestinians wouldn't know about it.
Now, six years after that agreement, the Obama administration says they don't know anything about the secret agreement and they want to follow the Road Map, which would require Israel to stop expanding its settlements in the Palestinian land.
What a ridiculous, outrageous and appalling thing for Obama to do! The United States should always honor its agreements. Obama needs to learn what it means to be honorable. Ignorance is no excuse. If Israel had a secret agreement with us, then we should honor it. Period! There is no excuse.
