View Full Version : Jon Huntsman is not a loyal American

Potential 2012 Republican presidential candidate and Utah Republican Governor Jon Huntsman was scheduled to appear at a fundraiser in Michigan in April, but Michigan Republican Party officials canceled the fundraiser, saying that Huntsman had abandoned Republican Party principles. That fact has become clearer with the news that Huntsman will resign his position as governor of Utah to serve in the Obama Administration as an envoy to China.
I say good riddance. He can join the disloyal ranks of Colin Powell and Arlen Specter.
Huntsman's path to the presidency may not be easy. He's angered conservatives on a number of issues.
He signed an initiative that would set a regional cap-and-trade effort to reduce global warming. Over the objection of many in heavily Mormon Utah, Huntsman loosened the state's restrictive liquor laws to make it a more appealing destination for visitors.
Most notably, he has said he favors civil unions for gay couples even though he backed a state constitutional amendment passed in 2004 that prohibited same-sex marriage.
Huntsman has begun feeling the heat for his apparent leftward tilt.

Hi, Clyde,
So when the disloyal Americans outnumber the loyal ones (since at at least Nov. 4) doesn't it make you wonder if maybe THEY'RE the loyal ones and YOU'RE the outlier?

Absolutely not. There's some nutty fucks running the country right now.

That's pretty accurate.
That's pretty accurate.
Divorce from reality wrapped in denial is what that is.
Care to explain why the republican party is in total shambles? I have my own theories but obviously I’m just a yellow dog liberal democrat America hater so my opinion means nothing to you.

ROFL. Turn on a television or read a newspaper.
The administration blames their "inheritance" from the previous administration for almost all their problems. Read: Blame Bush.
And if you seriously think Democrats weren't constantly QQing about Bush when he was in office...you are too dumb to have a conversation with.
I don't see what isn't 100% accurate about what PB posted.
Edit: Search "obama inherited bush" at Google's news search to read any of thousands of articles that use the exact phrase in them to explain problems within the administration.

Republican party is in "shambles" (I'll use your hyperbolic word.. because you are a political pundit....) because they got away from the conservative values of smaller government, controlled spending and lower taxes. Once Obama drives this economy into the ground with hyper inflation.. people will realize what a mistake they made and another political shift will take place. Then you will have a bunch of retarded Republicans calling the Democratic Party in shambles... much like they did in 1994.
Remember kids.. Socialism is a fantastic idea.. until you run out of other people's money to spend.

Pssst. Hey, there is new fangled thing called the internet.
The administration blames their "inheritance" from the previous administration for almost all their problems. Read: Blame Bush.
Every administration has an inheritance. Bush received, from the Supreme Court not the popular vote, a Social Security surplus, a booming economy and relative peace around the globe.
And if you seriously think Democrats weren't constantly QQing about Bush when he was in office...you are too dumb to have a conversation with.
Many rational people were just exercising their right to question. You want to call it QQing. Would you say that thats what anyone in opposition to the current administration are doing?
I don't see what isn't 100% accurate about what PB posted.
What my post was trying to get across was that when people questioned the past administration they were met with cries of “un-American” and “why do you hate America”???? In fact, there were also cries of “Clinton’s fault”!!!!
From where I sit, in my comfy armchair, most arguments against this administration are petty attempts at finger pointing away from the real problem that we are not so united.
Edit: Search "obama inherited bush" at Google's news search to read any of thousands of articles that use the exact phrase in them to explain problems within the administration.
Sorry, can’t be bothered. Every administration inherits problems and has their own to deal with.

Yep, every administration blames their downfalls on the previous one, and credits their successes to themselves only.
I've haven't stated the contrary. All I've stated is that what PB said was accurate. It was. And yes, Republicans are QQing about Obama.

PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF! God, I'm so tired of ignorant fools like you STILL proclaiming that Bush stole the 2000 election. Fuck man, it's been 9 years and countless recounts that clearly showed Bush the winner. Great.. he didn't win the popular vote.. learn how elections are won in the United States for crying out loud.
Use that new fangled invention called the internet and follow this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Electoral_College
Also.. use it to find the economy that Bush inherited. It was far from "booming". The "Booming" didn't take place until 2002-2006.
Many rational people were just exercising their right to question. You want to call it QQing. Would you say that thats what anyone in opposition to the current administration are doing?
You are far from rational.
What my post was trying to get across was that when people questioned the past administration they were met with cries of “un-American” and “why do you hate America”???? In fact, there were also cries of “Clinton’s fault”!!!!
And now, when someone questions the current administration, you are met with cries of "racist" and "why do you want America to fail"????? How often would you read that it's "Clinton's fault" compared to "Bush's fault"?
From where I look at the sit, in my comfy armchair, most arguments against this administration are petty attempts at finger pointing away from the real problem that we are not so united.
I just have a  to reply to this nonsense. That comfy armchair must be fully enclosed with only a small tunnel hole peering out towards the far left.
Sorry, can’t be bothered. Every administration inherits problems and has their own to deal with.
It's a real bother to copy/paste "obama inherited bush" in google.com? Or is it you simply don't want to see how thin your argument is?

Name one success of the Bush administration.
From whose perspective?
I liked some of his tax cuts pretty well, I think he did what was needed in the days after 9/11 to ensure our safety, school voucher programs, and his attempts to privatize some of our already socialistic programs.
I hated his out of hand non-military spending, the fact that he didn't veto jack shit until the end of his term, that he started all this bailout bullshit in the first place, the no child left behind program, etc.
From someone else's perspective, they could see him as a failure for all the things that I liked about him, and love that he was as liberal as he was.
He "accomplished" plenty. Whether you liked it or not, is the question. Same with Obama. He's already "accomplished" a staggering amount of things in his first 100ish days. Very few of them, have I liked. And it has nothing to do with him being a "democrat". For me anyway.
it used to be...
Dems: BUSH'S FAULT
Repubs: FU QQ
Now it's
Repubs: OBAMA'S FAULT
Dems: BUSH'S FAULT
The first day Obama took office he found 3 envelopes addessed to him with the folowing words writen on them: in case of emergency open first, open second, and open third.
The first crisis that hit, Obama opend up the first envelope and in it was a plain sheet of paper with the words written in pen "Blame the outgoing administration".
The second crisis that hit, Obama opened up the second envelope and in it was a plain sheet of paper with the words "Blame the outgoing administration".
The third crisis that hit, Obama opened up the third envelope and inside was a plain sheet of paper with the words "Make 3 envelopes...".
Bush did raise AIDS relief to Africa. That was stellar. He was also not rabid, more sympathetic, about immigracion...
He, and Cheney, destroyed our economy. Tax break fat-cat contractors were laughing all the way to their off-shore bank accounts.
And quit with the 9-11 shit already. Ancient history. We’ve spent more money and lives than 9-11 ever cost us.
He, and Cheney, destroyed our economy.
If I thought you actually knew what you were talking about, I'd argue this idiotic statment with you. However, its already been established that you're an idiot about many things - economics being one of them...
So I'm just going to laugh at you.

Why should I replicate thousands of words, numerous threads, and hundreds of posts rehashing our economy since your bandwagon against Bush initiated and your repeated failed attempts at demonstrating any inkling of how our economy works outside of your wallet, beer, your dime bag of spliff, and some stranger near a dumpster.
Just surf back through the politics folder for threads involving economic discussions for the past 6+ years.
In other words, if you dont know by now - you never will. And I'm not being paid to be your tutor or professor.

Wow, I'm officially checking out of this thread.
Bush ruined the economy. Yeah.
Well, he certainly STARTED to ruin the economy when he first signed off on the TARP bailouts. But not until then.
SINCE then just about every single economic move that Obama has made has FURTHER ruined the economy. We aren't about to hit the "slippery slope to socialism", we are already sliding down the hill. If you disagree...you must be a blind, deaf, hermit who lacks the capacity to understand economics and basic economic terminology.
Anyway, done with this thread. The stupidity has devolved below where my capacity to refrain from ad hominem attacks exists.
I’ve had about a billion beers since 6pm and I am only showing a .02 and feeling lit.

You really are pretty smug for no real reason at all. It’s just a stupid message board, Gan. Not some gladiators arena.
Yeah, I gave Khariz a little bit of a hard time, but he showed a maturity and reasoning that I can respect. He, nor I, did not try to turn it into anything personal like some people like to do.
And as for your little diatribe about me not knowing economics... I’ve never said I was an expert, or even interested, about what you even admit is an arcane subject. For you to condescend me about not knowing a subject you took a class in and I didn’t is as ridiculous as me chastising you for using comic sans when designing an ugly logo if you never took a typology class.

Remember this line?
"More jobs were lost under George W Bush then under any other president!"
And the rebuttal:
"That is because of the dot.com bubble and the recession left by Bill Clinton!"
How long till we hear the reverse of both of those as talking points?
The funny part will be that the housing bubble did not originate with Bush...
