As for Kadesha and Lissa, I haven't interacted with them much. Kadesha is usually rather pushy and Lissa can get rather nauseating when everything that comes out of her lips is about chocolate.

However those two, as well as Iscikella are some of the main reasons I don't read the official boards anymore. Lissa completely ruined the empath forum for me, and Kadesha with the way she just can't put two coherant statements together without making herself look like an incompetent, Isci.. well.. she was goddamned everywhere so you couldn't escape her even if you tried.

Icky I don't have a problem with in-game, other than her simpering whining during the last day of the Thurfel quest. It's actually her player who rubs me the wrong way on the boards. Like CT said, there's no hiding.

As for Lissa, I don't know her in game, but IRL she's one of the nicest people I've met at gathers. She puts together Vegascon every year practically with her own two hands and works her ass off to make sure everyone has a good time. She's also incredibly welcoming - I'd heard that some people at gatherings act a bit clique-ish, which is true on a TINY scale. She's not one of them, neither are most of the people who attend.

Lissa deserves massive props in my book for working hard to throw a weekend-long party every year.

1) Dresdena - she and connachtach tried to accuse me of raping her character in order to get some people to hunt me down. She is the only person for whom my hatred extends outside the game. I would honestly slap her had I the chance.
2) Titaniia - she was captain politics and destroyed everything good about every organization she joined, including the gryphons, and her ass-kissing of Kuromaku was the primary reason Fawn pushed Giacomo aside and put Kuromaku as the head of warriors. What people don't realize is Kuro didnt do much at all. He just was given the permission to put into place many of the things Giacomo had both suggested and coded years before.
3) Edward - he was the first coming of warclaidhm. An absolute idiot running around who went beyond the level of pity and into the realm of just stupid
4) Dartaghan - he abused his powers as GM Panashe, which ultimately led to his firing. He created many items and gave experience to his character, and had almost weekly brigatta giveaways of things like DB items to his friends.
5) BG - see Edward comments above
6) Khenan - mystery box scam game. I took personal pleasure in exposing it as fraudulent, and caught him on abuse of the 20 item memory limit of the same thing in a container (cannot get twenty-first small statue from a container)
7) Rozak - he lied about owning a self mana heroism item. Being it I collect, I've never forgiven or trusted him. Abused House system with Jakarta, whored out workshop for cash, screwed Tenser out of 2000 dollars, enough said.
8) Jamousii - same behavoir as Rozak except didnt lie about self mana heroism item.
9) Haashek - I dont think this requires an explanation, but he would be number 1 if he had been around back then. Only reason he's #9 is because of lack of longevity. He's edward on crack.
10) Venom/Randeis/ first big cash for items buyers who created a market that shouldnt exist - they were the ones who started the mass buying of items for thousands and thousands of dollars. A market that I still believe should not exist was created by them. Without that demand in earlier stages, the sellers would never have developed, at least not to the point they have today.

This is flat out untrue. For one, Dartaghan was not fired as a GM...he quit for personal reasons. In addition, he and many other older players who became GM's are constantly accused of creating their items. The fact is, theold Ice Age merchants sold very overpowered items, especially at auctions, and we took advantage of that and created very powerful items for ourselves. I cannot definitively say if he ever made an item for himself or not, nobody can. It is unfair to accuse people of this if you have no basis for proof.

As far as giving experience to his character...this is flat out untrue. The only way for a GM to do this and not have it logged for the Product Manager to review is by scripting a special item to do it for you. Even doing it this way, it was tricky to do without being loged or send system messages to all GM's online. Anyone who knew Dart knew very well that he did not script.

Lastly, Dartaghan had no affiliation with Brigatta in any way shape or form. Again, I cannot say whether he made items for other people or not...only the people involved could. However, he never made items for "Brigatta" nor had weekly Brigatta giveaways.

Please get your facts straight before you insult one of the people who helped make the game what it is today. I have my own personal issues with Dart, but I will defend even my most hated enemy from bullshit like this.

I was under the impression, and it may be completely false since I'm not a GM hanger-on, and the only one I can say I know is Mindra, that GMs were allowed to make items for their own PCs, as long as they never let anyone who wasn't them have any of them?

This was a good 4 or 5 years ago that I heard this though, they probably changed that in the name of game balance.

You know Sagan, your defense of Dart reminds me very much of the same defense another old former GM put up in defense of Aldrek. Until certain things came out into the public which validated the accusations. All of a sudden Aldrek's defense just.... disappeared.

When I can find a copy of it, I'll post some of the evidence you suggest. Such as gamehosts like Magiranger, IMing me and emailing me offering padding for cash. I guess that never happened either right?

When dartaghan sold his character, he had in his possession many items that no one else had any recollection of.

When Aintryg had half his gear taken, much of that was of the illegal variety you say may or may not have existed.

When Ardwen was accidentally almost banned because an item he found on a sold GMs account gave the user experience by rubbing it or something, I guess that never existed either eh?

The items did exist, and were created by many GMs who abused the lax policies put in place by Fawn. The game was not ready nor capable at the time of being a large scale, fairly run and enforced environment. And the staff at the time, many of them made no bones of this. Some took advantage, some didn't.

That you would defend your former position as Sayzor is your own volition. But enough circumstancial evidence will eventually comprise proof. Don't condescend upon my intelligence in saying because you were a GM you know. You know damn well your own access to the activities of other GMs is often not much better than anyone else's and even if it was, you couldnt comment on it.

You're going to have to pardon if I trust the word of those such as Giacomo, Aephir, and others on a slightly higher level than yourself, whom I don't know well enough to affirm otherwise.

Actually, any GM creating an item has to flag it as such. This was the rule of thumb for as long as I can remember. This rule however, has only more recently (in the last 4 years) actually been enforced with any kind of severity.

I dont know about current rules, but when I was a GM we were allowed to do alterations for ourselves and we were allowed to do any work for our characters that was done at a merchant event. So if I ran a weighting merchant, I could do that service for one of my items. Also, if I made a new character then making minor things like vultite weapon/shield, 4x armor, etc was usually ok. We were never allowed to bump our characters with money, experience, fame or anything like that.

There is no way to "flag" an item in the fashion you describe. If an item is made for an NPC or GM character, it is set to "GM Only". That is the only way to flag an item as one made by a GM.

Now, a GM could make a mistake creating the item and it would be obvious to any other GM that the item was created, but any experienced GM wouldn't do that by accident.

Not sure where you get your information from, Tamral. However, Giacomo and Aephir weren't on a "higher level" than myself. In fact, they were both remote employees whereas I worked on site at Simu. As far as in-game rankings went, we were all the same level. I had an advantage, being that I worked on site and had access to more tools than they did. So yes, I did have access to what other GM's in the game were doing in some cases...when others did not ;)

Some of the things you posted in your last post did happen. Some are half truths. Did this shit happen? Yep...it sure did. I know first hand of it happening. However, your accusations of Dartaghan are what I questioned...not of it ever happening. To my knowledge, Dart was always on the up and up. A gamehost can offer padding for cash and it can come from anywhere. That is not proof, even if they claim oen GM did it.


Lastly...I can comment on anything I see fit ;) I am not bound by an NDA...Non Comp...or any other such agreement. There are some things I won't comment on, strictlyu out of principle...but I will always be very upfront that I won't comment on it...not lie to cover the fact I won't comment.

Whether or not the details are exactly in order, though, it's easy to have smelled some of the shit, although perhaps it is more difficult to tell exactly what they ate for lunch.

4) Dartaghan - he abused his powers as GM Panashe, which ultimately led to his firing. He created many items and gave experience to his character, and had almost weekly brigatta giveaways of things like DB items to his friends.

Considering Dart was a founding member of Arcane masters and that cerulean was the co chair of Brigatta for a very long time i find this very unlikely.

I also knew Aintryg, and the items he might have gotten were likely passed on without anyone realizing just how "uber" they were, until -- apparently -- something or someone discovered them. And if it was something, then I'm betting Sagan is right, GMs don't get to make uber items for themselves or their friends anymore.

What happened in the past is the past, let's not condemn innocent people for the sins of others, Tamral, especially with evidence that's more than a few years old.

Dart was never a member of Brigatta, and Cerulean never had weekly giveways during the last 8 years, most of which he's been gone, and previous to that would have been during ICE days.

Part of the misconception is also what is considered "uber". Alot of items we had years ago were common, and we thought nothing of them. While today, they are uber. So a GM who may have made an item for their character 10 years ago might have done so because the items were commonplace back at that time, but in today's market the item would be insanely powerful.

A couple examples of this were the 3x enchantable DB cloaks which were sold by automated vendors...runestones which were X number of charges per day runes which were made by a merchant who would put any spell into them you wanted, wjo came to several different merchant events so alot of people had access to him....even things like pyrothag hide armor, fel hafted waraxes, and the like...all of these items sold on automated vendors for like 200k and are worth millions today. Back at the time they were released, I would have thought nothing of making a set of pyrothag hide armor for myself and altering it, simply because my character could have walked into a merchant tent, bought a set and had it altered in the next room. Today, that altered set of pyrothag hide armor would sell for 10 million.

I see a lot of people on lists that I used to really hate ,but after I got to know them a little bit in-game or spent some time with them as other characters I don't really. Maimara hates a lot of people -- but I notice now it's because of who she is and things she's done (as relating to quests or whatever). But when one of my other characters is confronted with these people I think are stark raving jackasses... they seem to be okay people.

I think a lot of it is perception. I used to hate Kadesha, but I spent some time getting to know her a little bit and discussing some things and now I don't mind her much at all. But there are people I'll probably always dislike -- I really dislike people that make unexplainable personality changes in front of merchants, and I don't much care for people that expect help but give nothing in return.

I made the mistake of letting him get closer. He needs some serious help mentally. He tried to get me to move to Iowa too. I hate that you even had to know him. I wouldn't wish him on someone I hate let alone someone else.
Makes me want to shudder and grab my baseball bat at the thought of him. He even threatened me and my son, said if I left him no one could have me, and he knew where me and my son lived . Not everyone's like him. I was lucky and sniffed out his insanity beforehand, I haven't always been so lucky. Then again, if I let jerks like him ruin my disposition I wouldn't know quite at least one good non-psycho person, probably more. ;)

Actually.. most of my characters are dirt poor. I have a couple nice items.. but most of those were given to me by my merchanting friends :)

As far as silvers go.. I think the most I ever had at any one time was about 10-15 million. I give too much shit away and hate selling to be rich in the game. I've lost most of my silvers playing that fucking fantasy football games with Sergey. So far I am down 15 million. (Don't bother asking me next year Sergey.. you fucker)

Good roleplayer, I cant think of anyone that did the Tart-eating halfling bit better than him. I still fucking wanted him dead. If he walked into the room I would leave; it was that simple. I couldnt even roleplay with him after a while because of some intrinsic loathing I have for halfling-esk halflings.

I am not surprised that I do not know any of the people on these lists. I have a knack for being able to spot people who are trouble and avoiding them like no other. Very useful skill to have.

Correct, Dartaghan was already fairly distant when Tamral was born, and the last interaction I ever had with Panashe (around 10/97, a few months after the web, just after Tamral had made his title and had a case of character corruption, I never saw much of him again.

The next time I saw dartaghan in the game was closer to 2000, during the snowball fight, and it was obvious this was not the original him.

Tamral however, was not my first character, either. I had met him on more than one occasion in previous incarnations, and while my character has never known him in any way other than a passing fancy, I also have a very hard time believing others, such as the former Giacomo and the former Aephir were completely full of shit in their assessments of Panashe/Dartaghan. I also have a difficult time believing others I knew from the earlier AOL days, such as Gerad were also so completely off base. My details can be as awry as can be, but so very many people don't just concoct this shit if NOTHING happened.

That being said, I don't believe you to have any more accurate information on the details than I do, other than a blanket disagreement of all of this as nothing more than storyboard, which is what I've come to expect of you. So I'll believe what I wish. I'll voice my opinions as I wish.

I remember speaking to someone shortly after dartaghan was purchased. I remember talking with some people about the items that were found. I remember several people much more knowledged than yourself talking about not knowing where any of them came from. Thus, I put him very high on my list of snerts. That's simply where he belongs. I hold a much higher level of respect for a GM like an ophion who may have been a dick, but was the same dick to everyone than one who cheats, lies, steals, but puts on a friendly face to assuage the mess.

On the GM corruption thing, I have wound up owning about a dozen blatantly Illegal items created by several GMs. When I find them I turn them in, its just not worth getting banned over them.

The item Sergey mentioned was fairly amusing, turn it for 50000 experience, rub it for 100 silvers, tap it for 10 points in each stat and some other verb made it give ya 1/1 TP if that item wasnt crated to cheat the system none were. Took then 3 days to fix Ardwen and also Wadsworth who also played with it. Was fairly amusing, ya did whichever action and all it said was okay, I went into restmode after playing with it, was at -798k to train.

Also the GM who created that item or at least sold it to me with a load of other items, was not one mention as crooked or as a bad person etc, in the long run you'd be surprised at who dies what sometimes.

Actually, the majority of the corruption happened after the web. Back on GEnie, favortism existed but there was not blatant corruption and it was unheard of for a GM to make items for cash. The real corruption started when items could be sold for real cash in the real world, and that market didn't really become hot until after the move to the web.

I've never heard of a corrupt GameHost, though, since they don't really have any powers. Unless a GH is fronting items for a corrupt GM, and in that case it is the GM who is doing something wrong.

Favortism and corruption have always existed, and will always exist. Favortism is actually worse today than it ever was when I was playing regularly. Corruption I do not know about, since I'm not as actively involved in the community as I once was. I'd say the height of GM corruption was around 1998-2000. During the end of my tenure with Simu, I investigated a number of suspicious incidents involving staff members, and it was one of the reasons why I ended up leaving.

Sorry Tamral, i'd trust your "sources" a little bit more if they could pinpoint the official house that he came from. You'd think people like aephir and Ophion and whoever else you talked to would know something easy like that. My personal interactions with Dart was very limited, but i have been very close to good friends\enemies of his and several people who have been behind the scenes and i've never heard any accusations about dart from them. in fact the only place i heard such things was on the anti gemstone site or whatever it was.

That doesn't mean that he may or may not have been corrupted, but then again its kinda hard to beleive at face value when it has glaring inconsistencies from the get go.

I sold my junk way before all of that and made about $2000 out of it, and this was really wimpy stuff like an non-pocketed altered-cloak, an altered 4 or 5x longsword with some crit weighting (Which I paid 200k for at a Jugg). This was prolly late 96.

I think the best times for selling were when the customer base was reasonably high and the time to play still cost by the hour. Nowadays I can't imagine those things would go for that kinda cash. Specially if you can buy silver for $20 a million.

just a note on BG, BG was primarily played by a guy at the University of Texas. Other people played her as well, I'm not sure if any chicks actually played her, but a year before the move to the web, the character was sold before it was banned. The guy who primarily owned BG had failed his way out of UT.

There was the time I set off a scales trap at the Park when it was really crowded. It was actually a complete accident (hey no one told me you had to pick the box, THEN disarm it), but I took full credit anyway. I killed three folks in the Park, at least one person two or three rooms away, and wounded several others.

I was really looking forward to some sort of mass execution, when the Constable came in and ruined things. I was sentenced to nearly four hours in the stocks. People BUGged the fact that the basket ran out of fruit. I was killed for weeks afterwards over the incident.

The guy I killed who wasn't in the Park at the time was pretty pissed. He claimed that his head was full from a long hunt, when all of a sudden a bunch of shards entered the room and killed him. He told me later that he stared at the screen, yelled "WHAT THE HELL?" and a few other things, and woke up his two kids. His wife banned him from Gemstone for two weeks over the incident...ROFL.
