There's one of its traditions that Notre Dame should break -- inviting every new President (http://newsinfo.nd.edu/news/6549-notre-dame-commencement-speakers) to speak at the university's graduation. The Cardinal Newman Society (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardinal_Newman_Society) and other groups that are protesting the invitation to Obama are exactly right.

Obama supports abortion, and he should not be the graduation speaker.

Four Catholic bishops have now criticized the school for its decision to invite a pro-choice president to address its university body, including as The Ticket reported here the other day, Bishop John D'Arcy of northern Indiana announcing that he would boycott the famous Catholic school's May 17 commencement exercises over the invitation to the president, who recently broadened funding of stemcell research.

More than 120,000 others have signed an online petition urging the institution to rescind the invitation.

A Notre Dame spokesman for President John Jenkins has stated the school stands firmly by its invitation, one of three commencement address Obama will make this spring.

Racism comes in many forms.

Obama is not the first pro-choice president to speak at ND graduation.

The boycot is just the cathloic church's racism bleeding through.

I have known many African-American and Hispanic Catholics. I think the modern church is more interested in allowing all races in, and getting their donations, then I see them showing any signs of "racism". Perhaps you have some knowledge or experience with them showing racism you could share?

While I am pro-life but do not mind Obama speaking at Notre Dame. Not everyone you meet will believe the same as you, and for intelligent debate it is good to hear from those with opposing views. And he is the president, after all.
