I've decided to become Obama's #1 fan. His brilliant $41,000,000,000 he earmarked for Energy/Energy Conservation in the "Stimulus" plan is a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L thing.

That reminds me of the line of republicans bitching about ear marks and pointing out Obama's campaign promise of earmark reform ... while having a shit ton of earmarks (and six of the top ten earmark kings/queens) themselves.

Ron Paul thinks we should have more earmarks..
actually, he makes a good point... which boils down to: if we don't earmark, we're basically giving the feds a blank check, by earmarking, we have control & create transparency as to how that money is being spent.

Not all earmarks/lobbyist are bad. Which is why I support the line by line veto.

Because of this stimulus package, I won't have to worry about my mortgage or putting gas in my car.
It's true. That chick was 100% correct.
Obama is teh man.

My spidey sense detects a backhanded compliment.

You are all take and no give. Like last night in the Wintergraps group when you repeatedly maligned the priests, mages, druids, and paladins for not buffing you when you didn't even have the generousity to give us aspect of the pack.

Heh.. I actually put pack on when people in my party piss me off. It usually takes them times to figure out why they are getting stunned repeatedly.
PS - I didn't see you in the group.. but then again, I forgot who your new toon is.

While there is hypocrisy to be sure. The #1 earmark bitcher has always been John McCain, and he certainly did not have any in the bill.
It isn't surprising that Obama refused to come down on the earmarks though (Giving congress a "stern speech" != coming down). He took a ton when he was a Senator while talking out of the other side of his mouth on the campaign trail. This is what voting for rhetoric instead of record gets you.

You don't think the line item veto would take even more power from the legislature and give it to the executive branch?
Sure, I like it in theory, but I think it would upset the checks and balances we have a little too much. Maybe if we had a political system like we did way back at the beginning where whoever got second place for president became vice president, and then require both P and VP to agree on which lines to veto.
