The new Democrat meme -- that Republicans are "insane" for calling for a spending freeze during a recession -- was reinforced today by columnist David Brooks during the journalist roundtable on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

If you're a Democrat or liberal Republican, you probably think Brooks is a conservative. But his double sacrilege today is almost unforgivable. In his unwarranted comments, he attacked two of the most honored conservatives of recent history.

"The problem with them and the problem with Limbaugh in terms of intellectual philosophy is they are stuck with Reagan," said David Brooks. "They are stuck with the idea that government is always the problem. A lot of Republicans up in Capitol Hill right now are calling for a spending freeze in the middle of a recession slash depression. That is insane. But they are thinking the way they thought in 1982. 'If we can only think that way again.' That is just insane."

I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard that! Everybody knows that when times are tough you need to save money. Everybody except David Brooks and the Democrats, that is.

In the years and years that the government has been around, regardless of whether democrat/republican/liberal/conservative has been in power, the government has increased in size, there has NEVER been a reduction in the size of government, and never will be.

As far as I'm concerned government is going to grow until it explodes, this is the nature of the beast. The USA cannot reign supreme forever.
If spending a bunch of money right now benefits us in the short term, go for it, because it would be pointless to be conservative in a system that is destined for destruction.

What you need to do when you live in a system like this is be less concerned about the general good of everyone, and only worry about yourself.

I see many posts from you ClydeR, most of them show you are too worried about politics. You need to spend less time bothering with that and focus on what you have the power to influence.

From now on, every time you post something here on the PC, I will take it as evidence that you are wasting your time and letting your own personal life go to shit.

If I never see another post from you, I will know that you have seen the light, and become a real person, changing the world through the small things that you can influence.

I feel the same way about fake people talking on the Internet as I do when bots repost things real people post.
