Well, it did stimulate LA’s economy.

Understand that some of these plans happen 2-3 years in advance... and that it's prohibitively expensive to simply cancel things as big as this. I have no idea if this is the case here.

I wouldn't put that article as soley a bunch of facts, due to the source being TMZ, but that shit is disturbing.

:yeahthat:
The food menu wasn’t all that lavish. Haricort verts are green beans and all that made in mass production would be just as good as any catered wedding dinner.

And here's what's absolutely amazing: The United States Government flat out gave Northern Trust the $1.6 billion in bailout money, and the bank didn't even request it!
If it's true, that's sad.
And.. since I've planned smaller versions of this before, I.. second what PB said...
fuck.

According to Fox News, the bank has no problems with giving the money back, which apparently (if I remember right, I was half asleep when it was on) Barney Frank is asking for it back. And yeah they never asked for the money to begin with.
I have a hard time giving a shit about this story, only because TMZ are the ones behind it, and they're trash.

Anything with TMZ on it makes me want to throw up. It's the enquirer on TV. Everytime I accidentally see it on TV I want to go out and shoot a paparazzi

Here's another bank that was going to do the same thing. Except sending them to Puerto Rico.
