Whats unbelievably sad is how many BLACK people judged Obama FOR the color of his skin. Hes the sacrificial lamb of the democratic party, groomed for the presidential race since the beginning, hence his fence riding, lukewarm senate career. We should have killed two birds with the same stone and elected Condi Rice, but instead we just witnessed the ugliest manifestation of racism since 1964, and heres a hint, it wasn't the "crackers"
^
That guy's username rocks btw.

I love how every single black person speaking has become a candidate for the entire race of African Americans in the universe. Even Worf.

Barack Obama is not a Merry Man!
Seriously, as I said in Methais' other thread, the first time he screws up and when criticized fairly for it, either himself or his advisors throw up the race card, my support for him is done. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until that happens, but I have a feeling it will be inevitable.

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but don't you think it's a little disingenuous to assume that it's automatically going to happen? As if, no black man has been successful or accountable without throwing out the race card?
What about self fulfilling? If he responds to this type of bullshit then he's already "thrown out the race card" but then it would be completely justified.

This makes me picture us accidentally nuking England and Obama saying "Whoops, my bad, I'm black".

Nice one Jorddyn.
I think we're being redundant. Are we saying that the race card wasn't played over the election process? I'm pretty sure every news station (Both liberalx3 and conservativex1) threw out those exact words on numerous occasions when speaking specifically about his run...and, really, he's sitting somewhere about 3% black...and 47% Arab. Not to say he's not black but he definitely put a lot of emphasis on it even though he was raised in a white home and had a lot of privileges many others did not.
So "Whoops, my bad, I'm black." Might fly to the ignorant...but the people that live with the majority of his blood line will have a little chuckle. We definitely know he wont be nuking the middle east.

I really doubt Obama will stoop to playing the race card. A more likely scenario is that to his embarrassment, such luminaries as Jesse Jackson will play it early and often on what they feel to be his behalf.

I WILL say that the ONE glimmer of HOPE I do see from Obama is his reaction to Biden's "My memory is better than Chief Justice Roberts". He was visibly irritated that Biden would already be on a stupid fest so early in his administration.

Skipping that his campaign used it during the primaries, I tend to agree with you.
The most likely scenario to me is that others, of his own race, use it against him. If past is prologue there will be many minorities not pleased with Obama's unwillingness to directly address racial issues. During his time at Harvard Law Review several minorities were less then impressed with his action/inaction in dealing with (what they saw) as racial disparities and issues at the paper. He also oversaw the publication of an attack on conventional liberalism and published an attack on affirmative action.
So look for those that will say he is not doing enough to be the ones that play any "race card" first.
He wants reelected.

The whole reason I have this feeling about how the race card may be used is that the last quarter of my existence on this planet was tainted by an administration that took responsibility for NOTHING. The fact that I'm still giving Obama the benefit of the doubt is nearly incomprehensibly possible considering that. I just don't want another presidency full of excuses why bad shit happens.
"A few bad apples," "intelligence failure," "activist judges" ... all those in my mind were the kind of bullshit excuses that the previous administration used to not fucking own up to their own failures and are on par with the use of the race card now. I just can't take that crap again.
If Obama or his administration screws up, they should OWN UP TO IT. Don't let the media say that we are criticizing him for being black, don't let Al Sharpton or whomever make statements that aren't immediately asked for him to take back about how we aren't giving him a chance because he's black. Don't find a Scooter Libby, or mailroom clerk, or whatever to give the Medal of Freedom to. Just fucking admit you made a mistake and move on.
He is the president, and as president, he has to take responsibility for the good and the bad just like a captain of a ship. The reason I have this suspicion that it is inevitable is that I just haven't known much else for a politician to do in these cases. I'm just too jaded.

I did not quite interpret what she said like the person who posted this on YouTube did.
It sounded to me like she said “I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car, I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage. If I am going to help them they are going to help me.”
It sounds more like she is saying that if she helps them (the government) then they will help her by keeping gas prices down/helping build alternate forms of fuel/transportation that is cheaper for the average American and that they will do something about the housing market bubble burst. Isn’t that way things are supposed to work?
Here is a young woman with a child in front of a TV camera answering a question about a pretty significant change of course in American politics. Would any of us non-media personalities been more succinct?

You're assuming in this statement that he somehow has control over the media, Al Sharpton, and "whomever". He doesn't. And any attempt by him to not "let" them say what they want to say would be incredibly close to infringing on first amendment rights.
Now, do I think he needs to own up to his mistakes? Of course. Do I think that he is to blame if some jackass on TV says "He's being picked on because he's black?" No.

You've spent the majority of your adult life with an administration that refused to admit mistakes and failure. I sincerely hope that will change. And yes, it is his ship to sail or to sink. Watch out for icebergs, I guess.

But he can get out there early and often and prove those idiots as idiots once and for all and get them the hell out of politics forever. That's what he's going to need to do when the first pitfall happens. Get out there before the pundits start spinning. If he lets it go and lets them infringe on his first amendment rights to tell them to shut the hell up and stop making excuses for him, that's where I draw the line in support for him.

Thanks for pointing out my stupid first/second amendment error. Oops.
However, they (the media, Al Sharpton, etc) have no ability to infringe upon his first amendment rights.
Again, I believe he should own up to all of his errors. But I also believe that he should allow said idiots to hang themselves with their, uh, idiocy.

I mean seriously? Why should Obama even acknowledge those clowns? You're always going to have idiots and you're always going to have detractors. Why should Obama feel it neccessary to account for OTHER people who he does not support or endorse?

Only because in this situation, these clowns who hold only a modicum of sway in the world of you and me, hold tremendous power in the demographic described in the title of this thread. The idiot demographic. They voted for him en masse, he can't deny that they helped him win. You aren't going to make them more intelligent, but you can wave shiny objects in the opposite direction of Sharpton and the like.
It isn't racial, since stupidity is colorblind, but it very easily can be so with the way these morons will jump at the chance to defend an Obama mistake like the way the 'Jena 6' debacle was handled. They will make it a racial issue, and that's when this shit is going to blow up. The real racists will show up from both sides and we'll have a situation that...and I hate to say this...will make the crazy Bush apologists look like sweet puppy dogs.
And he doesn't have to acknowledge them at all, all I'm saying is I want them out in front of the news on this stuff, so that the idiots never have a chance. Or if they get behind the news, to immediately come out and issue a statement that shuts race card apologist morons down instantly.

Don't get me wrong, I voted for him too (although to be fair, I won't classify myself as either an idiot or not, that is up for debate ;)), he had broad support from idiots and non-idiots alike. I'm simply saying that the crazy demographic got Bush elected and the idiots helped win it for Obama.
Crazies love when you talk dirty about their enemies, real or imagined.
Idiots love when you call them smart. Or when you allow them to spew their idiocy unchecked.
The second part of that is what I'm concerned will happen.

Great example of the idiots we have in this country. Reminds me of the movie Idiocracy. I didn't watch how the movie ended.. it got too stupid for me to watch but I think before I die I might see the ending play out. I think its near the point already when the number one show in US is American Idol.

I'm sorry but that's absolutely ridiculous. Just because some people who are idiots voted for Obama, doesn't mean that he owes it to them to defend their idiocy. That's like saying that the Republican party is beholden to all the redneck retards that still talk about the south rising again.
It's not true and it definitely isn't fair.
