So this guy is reporting from Gaza for a conservative site. He’s been criticizing the foreign press corps who are there and has made comments that the media should be banned from war reporting. He said during the campaign that a vote for Obama would mean the death of Israel.

Is he really that prominent a figure for conservatives?

I don’t blame anyone for making good money. I’d go over there and report for the right price. Thats not the question.

I would guess and say the same reason Michael Strahan is in Subway commercials. Joe is currently popular causing people to watch him. It's all about the ratings.

Uh. Rick Sanchez is prominently featured on CNN and has been for some time. He undoubtedly has much more daily attention from the world than Joe the Plumber is and it's likely to continue long after Joe the Plumber realizes he should just shut the fuck up.

Personally, I enjoy having Joe remain in the spotlight. It allows me to relive the glory days of the presidential campaign, when the Republican party began to crumble and everyone started to realize that the Emperor was in fact stark-ass naked.

I had no real opinion of Rick, because I didn't watch him much. But after I saw his take on Joe, I concluded that he is an arrogant and egotistical asshole. Jealousy is a common characteristic in people like this, and it shows from Rick's behavior towards Joe being in the spotlight.

While you may be a big fan of Rick and think he is God Almighty, your average person dosen't know who Rick Sanchez is.

Lol. Obviously He's jealous of Joe. That only makes sense! Why else would he not like the things he's saying?!

On the other hand, Joe the Plumber, err, Reporter, err War Correspondent has a lucrative gimmick going and he's capitalizing off of it, not unlike the average Joe. He slammed journalists and was slammed back. It's common sense to me, I'm just not seeing the jealousy Onurb is referring to in Sanchez's diatribe. In fact, Rick Sanchez is hardly the only "journalist" to react to this kind of hypocracy from a "fellow journalist"

Good for them, he was terrible.

CNN released this statement today:

“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.“

They will broadcast CNN Newsroom from 3-5pm for the foreseeable future.

Rick Sanchez has always been a horrible news anchor. I have no idea who he blew to get into CNN in the first place, but I'm glad that they zipped their fly and sent him on his way. Just a pity that he continues the same line of work. He sucks at it.

I remember watching him on some local Miami channel growing up. He was horrible then as well. I never understood why he got a promotion to national network news.

CNN has really transformed itself for the worse as of late. Politics aside, the whole "News and Views" concept and their inane hollywood segments around lunchtime and repeated through the night are unbearable.
