I was reading the Borowitz Report to catch up on current events . . .

Actually, a friend posted this on her Facebook. I particularly liked the bolded portion.

---------------------------------------------------------

In the first two weeks since the election, President-elect Barack Obama has broken with a tradition established over the past eight years through his controversial use of complete sentences, political observers say.

Millions of Americans who watched Mr. Obama's appearance on CBS' "Sixty Minutes" on Sunday witnessed the president-elect's unorthodox verbal tick, which had Mr. Obama employing grammatically correct sentences virtually every time he opened his mouth.

But Mr. Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years many Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring.

According to presidential historian Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, some Americans might find it "alienating" to have a President who speaks English as if it were his first language.

"Every time Obama opens his mouth, his subjects and verbs are in agreement," says Mr. Logsdon. "If he keeps it up, he is running the risk of sounding like an elitist."

The historian said that if Mr. Obama insists on using complete sentences in his speeches, the public may find itself saying, "Okay, subject, predicate, subject predicate - we get it, stop showing off."

The President-elect's stubborn insistence on using complete sentences has already attracted a rebuke from one of his harshest critics, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

"Talking with complete sentences there and also too talking in a way that ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder can't really do there, I think needing to do that isn't tapping into what Americans are needing also," she said.

Boo!!

Out of curiosity, did you object to Gov. Palin using Trig as a political accessory?

I laughed at your joke, the boo was just because I felt bad laughing.

The only time I remember Trig being discussed was during her convention speech. I didn't mind that for two reasons. One, she came across as sincere in her declaration that parents with disabled children would have an advocate in the White House. Two, there was speculation beforehand about the child not being hers. I thought it was smart to talk about him since people were curious.

Ahh, I thought you were saying my tasteless joke was in poor-taste.

Trig was at the convention the night of her speech. Trig was on stage at multiple rallies. Trig was part of her "At Home with the Palin's" special in suspect ways. That's what I meant by political accessory. He was like a prop.

I commend her efforts at bringing attention to special needs kids, whether sincere or not. But the use of her kid as a political prop was a little much for my taste.

Goddamn, that's funny every time. On a side note, it just occurred to me that Sarah Palin and her daughter are having kids concurrently. She's going to have a child and a grandchild that are practically the same age!

The hillbilly jokes are just ripe for the pickin'.

Best image of Trig was when Piper was licking her hand and slicking his hair down during the RNC. That was adorable.
