View Full Version : Palin considers options in 2012 and beyond.
(CNN) — As Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads to Florida to attend the Republican Governors Association annual conference in Miami, she says she'd consider a run for the White House in 2012 or beyond.
Less than one week after the victory by Barack Obama and Joe Biden over the GOP ticket in the presidential election, John McCain's running mate is speaking out about her political future in national politics.
"Don't let me miss the open door. Show me where the open door is and even if it's cracked up a little bit, maybe I'll just plow right on through that and maybe prematurely plow through it, but don't let me miss an open door.
And if there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door," Palin said in an interview with Fox News Monday.
Palin will be with her fellow Republican governors on Wednesday and Thursday as they meet in Miami. In the crowd will be other possible contenders for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
Palin also sits down Wednesday for a one on one interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer. Tune into the Situation Room, starting at 4 pm ET Wednesday to see Wolf's candid conversation with Palin.

Could you imagine 2016 -- Hillary vs. Sarah?
That would be an incredible debate.
The truth is, I believe there are enough weirdos in the GOP party to nominate Sarah Palin.

What a maroon. If she wants to do what's best for her nation and state, she'll quietly crawl back into the woodwork.

I don't even care about the $150,000 wardrobe miscommunication or a lot of the interview gaffes -
I can't support anyone who took freaking six years to get a degree in journalism to be the face of the US.

So anyone who takes longer than 4 years to get a diploma obviously must be stupid?

6 years. Communications. From shitty schools.
Yes.

So anyone who takes longer than 4 years to get a diploma obviously must be stupid? Not necessarily, but seeing as how she would have only been in office for four years if McCain won, if she can't finish school in that time, how are they going to manage all those campaign promises?
I don't see her winning a primary if you have other people running.
Rudy can run again, Romney can run again, Huckabee can run again (and as much as I dislike Huck's politics, he has great delivery - a perfect candidate this year would have been Rudy's policies, with McCain's record & experience, coupled with Huckabees personality and delivery, and maybe Romney's cash to finance the whole thing) then you will have people like Bobby Jindal. Can I see her beating any of those dudes? No.
Now, I could see her being a VP candidate again (always a bridesmaid, never a bride). I could see her getting Ted Stevens' seat in the senate. But I don't see her winning a presidential election.

Not necessarily, but for the most visible office in the world, optics are a pretty big concern.
Look at all the crap that we get because people think Bush is unintelligent. Say what you will about him or how he got in, but at least he went to a top-notch grad school and finished on time.

"80% of the GOP want Palin as a leader in their party"
And 100% of Democrats.
"80% of the GOP want Palin as a leader in their party"
I find that really hard to believe. Wheres that number coming from?

Lawl, I think the Liberal Media is *trying* to ensure that Palin is the 2012 nominee of the Republican Party...
Humilate and embarrass her in 2008 (not that it wasn't hard to do) and then build her up for 2012, only to lampoon her once again for probably the easiest electoral victory for a Democrat in recent history.

I had to take a year off from college to make enough money to go to college. There are extenuating circumstances to everything and to believe that somehow she is just too dumb is clearly ignorant and narrow minded.
I think Mitt Romney and/or Bobby Jindal are doing a masterful job of destroying Palin's chances of running for a national office again. I have to hand it to them... so many people are falling for it and it's working to perfection. Either one will definitely get my vote in 2012.

Well to her credit she graduated after 5 years, however she attended four different colleges to get there. Yes she was part of beauty pageants in between semesters, but there is something a little unnerving about that much lack of commitment.

Didn't you get the memo? The GOP now consists of only those people who voted for McCain because he picked the most wonderful running mate in history. The rest of them are - in the words of Rahm Emanuel - "Dead! Dead! Dead!"

Amen.If she's run out of politics I see a talk show career in her future.
As far as a 2012 run for Palin, she wouldn't make it past the primaries. She'd get slaughtered by her primary opponents and they'd remind us of each and every one of her vulnerabilities every chance they'd get. She'd ignite the righteous base, once again, and maybe raise a lot of money for the GOP, but I don't see her ambition making up for her lack of knowledge regarding [insert political hot topic that is not a party talking point here].
If Jindal runs I hope whatever success he enjoys will be attributed to nothing more than his political savvy. My sleeper is General Petraeus. Although, the GOPs track record of nominating old war hero's hasn't been paying off much in recent elections.
In any case, Obama will have to be seriously inept to not get re-elected in 2012.

The full quote is even better:
Putting my life in my creator's hands -- this is what I always do," she said. "I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door. Show me where the open door is and even if it's cracked up a little bit, maybe I'll just plow right on through that and maybe prematurely plow through it, but don't let me miss an open door. I read this as her going for a Senate Seat in 2010. Either Murkowski's, or if Stevens wins and is expelled, the 2010 special election seat.
