Where do you think it will be going now that Obama has been elected?

His history shows he is anti-gun, but lately he seems to be trying to say otherwise.

Anyone going to go out and buy some now just in case?

I've got all I want/need. I just need to pony up and get my lifetime conceal and carry before the option is removed.

Honestly, I think it's so far down on the list that it doesn't even register. I'd chalk the next four years up to a "states responsibility".

You also have to keep in mind that he probably wouldn't submit anything on the subject until at least two SCJs have been replaced ... DC ban ruling and all.

Now, if after this first term (assuming he gets a second) there's no war, we have socialized healthcare, socialized education, no war, shrinking deficit, excellent economic growth and people retiring into multi-billion dollar retirement communities ... ya, start buying and hiding.

His history shows he is anti-tax cuts, but he's going to give one to 95% of all Americans. Don't trust history.. trust what he says.

What state(s) are you allowed to get a lifetime permit? I have not heard of this before.

Florida is only good for 7 years... but hopefully will take me through Obama's administration. I plan on picking up 2-3 more handguns before February 2009.

I think that guns are far down on the list of priorities, and if you're truly worried about those that may some day be banned, start buying your grenade launchers now.

It is an interesting topic for me, though. I used to be much more pro-gun-control than I am now, with the thought that the forefathers may have had a different opinion if they'd known the kind of weaponry we'd have now. But the realization that in order to fight against that kind of weaponry one must have that kind of weaponry has led me to be rethink that stance.

We cling to guns and religion in my state is my excuse.

Valid Term Of The Concealed Weapon License Increased
From 5 To 7 Years

On Wednesday, June 11, 2008, the Division of Licensing began issuing concealed weapon licenses that are valid for seven years.

This increase in the valid term of the concealed weapon license is the result of Governor Charlie Crist having signed Senate Bill 948 into law. This legislation also enacted statutory language stipulating that a person must be a RESIDENT of the United States AND either a CITIZEN or a PERMANENT RESIDENT ALIEN in order to qualify for the concealed weapon license.

"They're going to have to pry my guns out of my cold dead hands".

No *filibuster proof majority in the Senate.

I think my guns are safe.

Virginia is still 5 years, I just got my renewal in October. Was $15 instead of the $50 that it used to be.

Isn't owning a gun in TX a religion? You get one at birth? If they ban guns maybe TX will become its own country.

Its almost like a religion. I did not get one at birth, but I did get my red rider BB gun at 7. Been shooting ever since.

We were our own country once upon a time...

Anticor is correct. Indiana does have a lifetime permit. But there are a few restrictions. You have to have held a regular one for a period of time before I can't remember how long. And I think there might be one or two other restrictions on it.

And per the op I'm buying a couple more and ammo. And dies powder bullets etc for reloading

Im hoping PA gets its head out of its ass soon. All gun regulations are currently controlled by the state and they have a fairly lax policy. The problem is that Philly needs to have control of the city's regulations. Places like NEPA and Pennsyltucky are quite a bit different from Philadelphia in regards to guns. Lots of people like to hunt in the state but in the city theres only 1 thing people are hunting and its other people. Mayor Nutter(lol i know) passed a bill recently that basically undermined the state laws in hopes that it would be appealed and the state would be forced to address the situation. Im hoping it works because gun violence is a really big problem in the city.

Well I was wrong. Indiana does have a lifetime permit but no additional restrictions beyond the four year one. But it does cost a bit more 4yr $30 lifetime with current permit $60 w/o current $75

Oh plus the application fees.

10 4yr 5 refundable if not approved
40 lifetime w/current 30 refundable
50 lifetime w/o 30 refundable
