View Full Version : McCain Supporters Confront Intolerance at McCain Rally

Often people try to act like McCain supporters are all hateful, bigoted and will say or do anything for their candidate to win. They are incorrect, but being caught up in the emotion of the election those that make such charges cannot help themselves. There are idiots and intolerant people on both sides of this political race, and there are those that do not stand for it on both sides as well.
I know I have stood up to intolerance and lies during this campaign (such as the mass "Muslim" emails, I always "reply all" and confront the senders).
This is outside a McCain rally, where McCain supporters challenge and send off some intolerant people.

Warrior, nobody is disputing that there are extremist people on both sides of the card. What Mabus is pointing out is that there's also another side of it that doesn't make the big headlines.
The problem is, as I see it, that it's McCain's supporters that have to do what they can to stamp out this crap, and not John McCain himself. People like that can only hurt his campaign. That much is obvious. He should have been up on stage condemning this crap before the shit hit the fan.

Having been to rallies for both candidates... in my experience McCain/Palin rallies tend to be a 'whip supporters into a frothing furor' experience whereas Obama rallies tend to be more of a 'light show' to entertain an audience.
If there's any 'Obama's not really evil!' commentary it likely comes in a similar vein to McCain's response to his 'Obama is and Arab' lady, half-hearted and suggesting that Obama 'just might be an okay person.'

I've seen Obama point out intolerance of the other side and shoot it down. I haven't seen McCain do anything even remotely like that. Even at the last debate when confronted with the question of intolerance, he sort of shrugged it off, gave no firm answer, and went off on a tangent about something else.

Ah, hadn't seen that one. The question I would have though is this: Was this video taken before or after McCain started taking heat for not dealing with intolerance at his rallies?

After.

God knows I've never seen an angry intolerant left wing radical...
Obama has accepted the support from crazy groups. Daily Kos, Moveon, etc.

I've moved past the point where I think everybody that disagrees with me is nuts. I've actually explored Red State a fair amount to try to get into the heads of 'Republican true believers.' Your argument does pretty much nothing to critique Obama's rallies v McCain/Palin's however. I think Obama's gotten as far as he has because he uses hope and excitement rather than fear and anger.

Honestly, the warmongers (the ones who can do shit other than toilet bowls + fecal expulsions) have been responsible in their actions for the deaths of more of our stars and stripes than people who are trying to preserve, say, the life of Americans? During this last bout of Oval Office infestation, I have seen who has made decisions, as a citizen of The United States, that has lead to cold deaths of our citizens afar moreso than what we've been used to for quite some time.
Palin can talk as much dumb shit about "un-Americans" as she can and will; but if she can recognize a chain of events (starting off in Iraq and ending ... withstanding) as our doing, having spurred the deaths of more and more of our soldiers, I would consider these deaths to be the least American and most anti-Patriotic shit she ether doesn't know or care to acknowledge... But I don't even know what a high-ranking politician truly believes when they're not being parrots at the podium. Do you?
Footnote: Just like Saddam Hussein, Islamic fundamentalists who were really liberal citizens of this country, who bespeak a cheesy peace and love sentiment, are responsible for flying planes into my city's buildings.
But... It's hogwash unless you can actually do something about it. Everyone's entitled to their tortuous dumbass opinion; i.e., whether or not you agree with this post based on a political/e-bias. We really can't do shit though and that is a politician's wet dream when inclined towards the battlefield. What I hate the most is that (edit: people who aren't politicians with military mobile accessibility) everyone who can have a conversation has this country's divided-ness burning in the fucking air before the tension begins to even kick in. I hate that shit. Even conversations are nuke-u-lar.
