I'm a Palin supporter but it doesn't mean I can't see humor in certain things:

Ugh.
I'd see more humor if there wasn't a chance of her becoming vice president.
This link makes up for everything though!
I'm a Palin supporter.
Uh not trying to be a prick, but why?

If you didn't realize by now that I am conservative and a McCain supporter you haven't been paying attention. At all.
Im a conservative too, but I dont see anything particularly positive about Palin. Just wondering what you see in her.

If you hadn't also noticed, I seldom engage in political debate because I believe that noone is convinced of anything in the politics folder unless it somehow supports what they already believe. The liberals are as hard-headed and unyielding as the conservatives. There's a lot of anger and very little resolution in most political threads. I would rather harrass people for PMs of their junk personally. So shut up and send me a pic!
I dont know the effort it would take to get hard and then wait till I was flaccid again while holding a cell phone camera....I mean its asking alot from someone whos as drunk as I am.

I do occasionally get convinced to change my mind, although admittedly never on a forum. I am pretty right politically and the whole Palin thing made me do a double take. Its kind of insulting that McCain thinks his base is so into him that he can just put a Clinton draw as Vice and get away with it. I would not have said a few months ago I would vote for Obama but im somewhat up in the air now and sad to say it really is over Palin.

I said exactly the same thing after watching the debate tonight in another thread.
Edit: Well, not exactly over Palin entirely, but she's a part of it. And I'm not too up in the air anymore either. Obama's getting my vote.
Therefore I submit that I said partially the same thing resulting in a similar outcome.
I think this might be the first year I walk into the booth undecided.

In the end, a lot of people will just end up taking the gamble that McCain won't die in office. Roll them dice and pop out his chad.
I honestly think that if he gets elected and his health takes a turn or he can unearth anything somewhat nasty about her, he'll ditch her in favor of... well... anybody else... joe the plummer would be better than that dumb bitch.
It wouldn't be the first time the VP has been replaced mid-term. I think he knows his choice was flawed.
Auri Flisher was on Jon Stuart a couple of nights ago and he was making the argument that you don't look at a VP choice, you just look at the candidate. Well, when the VP is a decent choice, you can just glance at them, make sure they're both somewhat competant and experienced, and then dismiss them. But with Palin, the american people have vetoed her.
But I think McCain and his advisors think if they change her out now for somebody better, they will come off looking worse. which there is something to be said for that, but how much worse could his poll numbers get before he releases that political anchor?

I lol'd at the update again
I'd rather have the inexperienced political newcomer as VP than P. But hey, I'm crazy like that.
I refuse to believe that there isn't a rational person on this planet who could say "The Democratic ticket wouldn't be more appropriate with Biden on top." with a straight face.
Oh wait, I forgot, BO gives good speeches, has symbolism, and is inspiring to Europeans, what was I thinking... of course he'll be the obviously choice.

And before the endorsement you would have been on your knees begging him.
Actually he made all these noises back in the spring about not endorsing anyone, and I took him at his word.
Besides, an endorsement from a foreign policy figure is not something McCain needs right now. Economists, though sure (http://www.economistsformccain.com/).

That's what the Buffet endorsement does for him. Let's not forget that Powell is far more than foreign policy ... but you knew that didn't you.
Let's just say we're not surprised by your "took him at his word" bit. Powell has been so fucking non-political since the first steps under the political lens ... he's never endorsed anyone, until now.
While you may blow off the endorsement ... and while other "conservatives" and republicans may do the same ... you're not the majority. It was huge and you're just crying in your beer now.

How brave of Powell to make an endorsement two weeks before the election after it's clear who's going to win.

While it may be true that Powell never said "I endorse George W. Bush," Powell did campaign for Bush in 2000. I'd say that's an endorsement.

If McCain had chosen a very qualified running mate, I think the polls would be very different today. He took a gamble and lost, that's all it is.
He should have been trying to underscore Obama's inexperience with an overload of experience. Instead he said... "Hey... If you think Obama's unqualified, check out THIS chick... It could be MUCH worse guys... vote for Obama, at least he's not as bad as her"
Bad bad bad bad political strategy. She solidified the republican vote. But your running mate shouldn't pull in the people that are already going to vote for you, it should pull in undecideds, which Palin didn't do.

Agree. What they were trying to do (obviously) was get those Hillary supporters who just voted for her because she was a woman. Tried to capitalize on the fact that Hillary hadn't endorsed Obama because she wanted to run again later. They were trying to get the vote of those working class hockey moms that didn't want to vote for an old guy who looked like every other crooked politician we'd ever have. And it backfired on them. They greatly underestimated the ability of the American public in general (Wow. Never thought I'd say that) to actually look deeper into a situation than the surface. Like you said, gambled, lost.

I always liked McCain. I was on the fence leaning toward McCain until Palin came along. The running mate should be glanced at, made sure they're competent, and then forgotten about. He made us stare at this VP, scratching our heads.
Unfortunately, if he admitted his mistake and swapped her out, he'd look like somebody who can't be trusted to stay the course. He's lost no matter what he does... Only way for him to win now would be if she died of a stroke or something and he chose somebody else.

You're definitely right. I was on the fence too for a long time leaning towards McCain. I can't say that him choosing Palin was what put me over, but it certainly started me on the path.

Where did you see this?
In Powell's Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Powell).
In the 2000 U.S. Presidential Election Powell campaigned for Senator John McCain and later Texas Governor George W. Bush after the latter secured the GOP nomination, serving as a key foreign policy advisor to the Bush campaign.[citation needed] At the same time, it was often hinted that Powell might have been appointed to a position within a Democratic administration, should Al Gore have won.[citation needed] Bush eventually won, and Colin Powell was appointed Secretary of State.
