Biden decided to take a page from Hillary's "sniper fire" story:
Chicago Sun Times article (watch the popup) (http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/1154564,CST-NWS-biden10.article)
"The superhighway of terror between Pakistan and Afghanistan where my helicopter was forced down...John McCain wants to know where Bin Ladin and the gates of Hell are? I can tell him where. That's where Al Quaida is. That's where Bin Ladin is. It's not in the country of Iraq." -Biden.
He also repeated this story at a National Guard post later.
But it was the snow that caused the helicopter pilot to land.
To quote John Kerry (from the Associated Press):
"The weather closed in on us, it went pretty blind, pretty fast and we were around some pretty dangerous ridges. So the pilot exercised his judgment that we were better off putting down there, and we all agreed. We were going to send Biden out to fight the Taliban with snowballs, but we didn't have to do it. Other than getting a little cold, it was fine."
Bin Laden now controls the weather, who knew? And Biden can take him out with snow balls?

I don't see where Biden said his helicopter was forced down by Bin Laden.
"The superhighway of terror between Pakistan and Afghanistan where my helicopter was forced down"
This is true

Sounds more like you are desperately trying to read something into this that simply isn't there.

It was insinuated.
From the National Guard speech later that day:
"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me," Biden said. "Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."

Had Biden said his helicopter was forced down by Al-Qaeda, you might have a point.
He didn't.. and you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Yep. I am.
But damn, I am hoping the story takes hold. Give it a day or so.

Just goes to show how good of a 'politician' he is.
Those are some expertly crafted words, there.

It's not like he said that the helicopter was forced down because of sniper fire and he had to duck out of the way. Sure he crafted his words to mean more, but really, there's nothing there. You're reading more into this than necessary.

That was some very skillful politic-ian-ism-ocracy-ish-ness... He said enough to make it sound death defying and dramatic, without saying too much to lie about anything he said.
