So according to the Obama press release - he's made a decision. To be announced in stages as soon as Wednesday.
http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/08/19/america/19veep.php

So who's it going to be? Lets do a poll!

My money goes on Biden. Only the Dumbercrats could fuck up what should be an easy election with a really dumb VP choice.

I'm hoping for Sebelius. Realistically I see Bayh, Kaine, or Biden.

Khariz

He should pick Sebelius or Kaine. Who he will pick, who knows.

Why isn't Kerry on your list?? There's a better chance of him than Hillary imo.

Kerry would be close to Biden for poor choices.

Sebelius sounds like a Harry Potter villain. I'll have to look him up.

I'm hoping it's Jack Reed. Bayh got hit with a massive oppo hit today in the Associated Press, so I'm reading that as unlikely. Biden is the preeminent foriegn policy expert in Congress on the Dem side, so he'd fit...but you'd rather want someone like that for Sec'y of State. Clinton's a nogo, and I don't think Kaine's likely either (though he's a good pick). Sebelius is a good pick, but the possible backlash from Clinton supporters makes that dicey.

And PB, Kerry's not on the shortlist.

Nor is Hillary...

Not that Gan is obsessed with her or anything.

Oh, so only the people on the 'short list' ever be named as a VP.

Someone doesn't know much history, does he.

I see you have chosen wisely, Gan. No one makes nearly as much sense as Bayh, not to mention they're (DNC) grooming him, imo.

I would pick Richardson.

I don't think Obama will.

Haven't seen differently on the Dem side in a while. You have to go back to 1984 for that, I think.

My bad.. I didn't realize that only VPs were selected on the DNC side.

I didn't think Biden would make it over some hurdles... like say this one (http://web.archive.org/web/20070804151215/http://www.joebiden.com/newscenter/pressreleases?id=0133)

Gan

Not that Gan is obsessed with her or anything.

Right, thats why I picked her as my selection. Oh wait...

... Not that she was his primary opponent in the primaries - not Kerry.

... Not that she doesnt have a prime time speaking spot (as well as her husband) - and not that she has her own media crew to cover it.

... Like I said earlier on - if you think Hillary has nothing else to add to this race (aside from the fact that she's not formally ended her campaign but 'suspended' it) then you are way more trusting of her than I.

Because he's an obvious attempt as a news decoy if you ask me. The press falls for it all the time.

I think people read into his song about kicking ass (whether rightly or wrongly) that he was pro-war, which has been quite the non-Democrat platform for quite some time now.

Um, I'm pretty sure that Obama won't be picking Toby Keith as his VP.

Wrong thread dude.

Sorry Clove, Drisco, El Burro, Exit, Kuyuk, sst and Valthissa.

Hillary gets stiffed

There’s one Democrat who would seem to have little or no chance of being picked by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) to be his running mate – his former opponent, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).

But it’s not for the reason you think.

Obama has often said, most recently on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on July 27, that Clinton “would be on anybody’s short list.”

But apparently not his.

“She was never vetted,” a Democratic official reported. “She was not asked for a single piece of paper. She and Senator Obama have never had a single conversation about it. How would he know if she’d take it?”

The official also said Clinton never met with Obama’s vetting team of Eric Holder and Caroline Kennedy.

And the official said she was never asked for medical records or for any financial 2008 information about her or former President Bill Clinton. The last information the couple has disclosed about taxes and financial holdings was for 2007.

The Clintons also were not asked about donors to the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.

“This would be the biggest leap of faith ever,” the official said. “She’s waiting for the text message like everyone else.”

An Obama aide said "absolutely exhaustive research was done on her over the course of the 16 month primary. She was researched more closely than any candidate in history."

Hillary was never even a consideration, Obama merely said that she was to try and pull some of her followers over to him.

Unlikely. Hillary will do JUST enough to look like she's helping Obama get elected.. but seriously hoping he doesn't so she can run in 2012.

Bob Barr would get more votes then McCain, if this happened.

WASHINGTON - On a day and night of political suspense, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden emerged as a leading contender Friday to become Barack Obama's vice presidential pick as two running mate rivals learned they had been eliminated.

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine spread word he had been ruled out and Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana was told he was not Obama's choice, according to party officials.

The normally loquacious Biden maintained a low profile as associates said they believed — but did not know — he would be tapped. They added they had been asked to stand by in case their help was needed.

The only thing better than Obama just picking Biden, would be McCain then subsequently picking Jindal. Then we'd hear the 7/11 clip every day until the election!

I actually predicted it long before this poll was made.

How does everyone feel about the McCain/Romney ticket?

I hope not. I really detest Romney..and I don't know that it would help McCain very much.

I think Romney would hurt as much as it will help. With Romney, you would get votes like mine.. but lose votes like Ilvanes. Romney would solidify the base of the Republican Party.. but the so called independent vote would probably not vote for McCain.

Mabus

Romney would bring a serious economic uplift to a McCain ticket. Downside, Biden would have him for lunch in debates.
