Charles Grassley, the senior Senator from Iowa, appears to be in trouble (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jul/21/grassley-wont-be-gop-delegate/) with his state Republican Party. Even though Grassley requested to be a voting delegate to the Republican National Convention this year, his party voted to deny him the honor. Grassley is the most senior Republican official in Iowa.
The Christian Alliance has gained control of 9 out of 17 seats on the Iowa party's central committee. Grassley, who is seen as less than committed to the important conservative issues for which the Republican Party stands, is getting the cold shoulder. He may find himself facing a strong primary challenger when he runs for reelection in 2010.
