Vero Possumus. Yes, we can.

Shrewd on the symbolism. He has top staffing on his side.

You should look up how broadly "likeness" is construed.

The seal used is obviously not the real one, it's patterned after it obviously, but just as obviously it cannot be mistaken for the real deal. So I don't believe he violated U.S. Code. I mean really, think about all the fake seals Hollywood has used. Obama's is just another presumptive, cheap, and cheesy knockoff.

I do think its amusing that he believes he is deserving of his very own seal though. What a jug-eared jackass.

That was from the US Code. (http://uscode.house.gov/uscode-cgi/fastweb.exe?getdoc+uscview+t17t20+462+0++%28%29%20 %20AND%20%28%2818%29%20ADJ%20USC%29%3ACITE%20AND%2 0%28USC%20w%2F10%20%28713%29%29%3ACITE%20%20%20%20 %20%20%20%20%20) It isn't my fault that the attempt at using a fake presidential seal may appear to have broken the law. I found the whole usage and discussion funny, and believe it made him look childish.

I do not believe the Bush administration will charge him with the offense, as he has apologized and said he will not use it again. They always seem to let the elites off of offenses in this administration.
From the Chicago Tribune:

"A presidential seal graphically altered with symbols representing Barack Obama's campaign of change was just for one-time use and will not be used again, a spokeswoman for the Democrat's campaign said Monday.

The seal, with its blue background and an eagle in the center clutching arrows and an olive branch, evoked the official presidential version, but had been altered with a new Latin phrase, instead of the original "E pluribus unum," which means, "Out of many, one."

Obama's campaign changed the phrase to "Vero possumus," which can be roughly translated to his "Yes, we can" slogan. The seal also featured his "O" campaign logo covering the eagle's body, instead of a shield.

When the altered seal was unveiled last Friday in Chicago, it raised eyebrows and prompted comments about how presidential it looked. The Republican National Committee gleefully ridiculed it as a prop."

That would qualify it as a "likeness" if it was an altered version of the seal.

They tore Obama a new one on the John Steward show, Daily Show? is it? First on that, then on the public financing issue. It was one of the few times I laughed my ass off at that show.

Apparently the campaign has realized how stupid it was and dropped it for future events.

Yeah, Jon Stewart's show is the Daily Show. I need to start watching that more often...loved it in college.

This is where the Republicans should go after him.. his elitism. Hammer it home.

But McCain wants to run the first clean campaign ever in American politics. He'll keep taking shots from Obama and not responding like he should. There is PLENTY of ammo to use against Obama.. but it'll never get used.

The more I think about it.. the more I believe I'm just going to vote for Obama and be done with it. I don't particularly like either candidate and I think they are both bad for America.. so why let the Republicans hold the bag? Let Obama get in.. fuck this country up real nice.. and let people remember how shitty a liberal/socialist President is for everyone. HOPEFULLY a TRUE conservative will rise from the shit we currently have and put us back on track. Think Reagan after Jimmy Carter.

I loved how JS mocked Obama and then half-whispered to the crowd, "You know, you can laugh at him too..."

It was def presumptuous, and LOL@Back for defending it.

I guess I could just say I'm voting for Obama because he's a good public speaker. Seems to work for others here.
